BillyVance 35 #2 August 23, 2005 It's my opinion that Hawaii should never have become a state... Hawaii should have been allowed to be its own country. For that matter, Canada should have gotten Alaska from Russia, not the U.S. Oh well... Isn't the U.S. the only country in the world that claims islands more than 2000 miles away from its mainland as its property? I doubt they would really like all the consequences of being on their own. Tourism is nice, but cyclic. Pearl Harbor is always there. Take it away and the GNP plummets. And while the Japanese come in substantial numbers, there are quite a few Americans who go there because it is still part of the country. (Mexico is too scary!) But they wouldn't miss all the mainlanders. All the white people I knew on Kona were just a little bit wacko.

GTAVercetti 0 #9 August 24, 2005 Quote It's still contiguous - no countries between California and Hawaii. Uh.... con·tig·u·ous adj. 1. Sharing an edge or boundary; touching. 2. Neighboring; adjacent. Hawaii and the Continental US are not adjacent, nor are they touching. I really don't care if Hawaii becomes its own country. My friend went to study there for a summer and said that most locals don't like whitey anyway. Let em have it. Its not going to stop tourism. And Pearl Harbor ain't leaving. It does not matter if hawaii is indpendent or not.Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
