BillyVance 34 #1 August 18, 2005 Joe Blow started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA....."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
chuteless 1 #2 August 18, 2005 I remember when things were stamped with "Made In Japan" and then they went to war with the USA, and now its the rest of Asia that is making goods to be sold in North America. Not far from my home, there is complete subdivisions that are exclusively Chinese, and all street names are in their language. They are moving here in droves, and soon, they will own much of North America. Its a flood of red dragons and there will be no stopping it. Bill Cole . billvon 3,080 #3 August 18, 2005 >I remember when things were stamped with "Made In Japan" . . . . I recall a few years ago standing in a Circuit City watching Pearl Harbor on some massive plasma TV. "Wow, it's strange to watch this. My father was there" said one guy watching the TV. "Even stranger that we're watching it on a Japanese TV," said another. sfzombie13 324 #5 August 19, 2005 i hear this connotation a lot, but i never hear the one about the germans. except from a jewish friend while i was in the army in germany. think about the expensive mercedes and bmw people view as a status symbol, and remember that they were the leading producers of tanks in ww2 for the germans. and by the way, not much has changed since then really, they made the best tanks then, and thats where we got the basic design for our m1._________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
rehmwa 2 #6 August 19, 2005 QuoteThey are moving here in droves, and soon, they will own much of North America. Immigration in our countries is a good thing when intelligent and hard working people come in. Integration into the local cultures (via living together and taking on the local languages, etc) is tougher when the immigration is massive. Of course, when the locals call them names, even names like "red dragons", you might not have to wonder to much why the immigrants choose to live near each other and maintain their own culture; instead of moving into your neighborhood and become friends and blend into the local culture as we would all hope. ... chuteless 1 #7 August 19, 2005 Well, they are Communist "RED", and RED is their color, and the dragon is their symbol....I think they would like the connection if the truth were known. BTW> an interesting sideline to Made In _____. There is a law, passed about 100 yrs ago, that says all manufactured goods anywhere in the world will have MADE IN ______ whatever country manufactured them, but it mustbe printed in English...the Universal/International language of the world. If an item is made in Germany, it must have Made In Germany in English stamped into it...if made in Japan, it must say so in English. I cant remember what the name of the law was called, but it does exist. Bill Cole .

Half my ancestors (Irish) had the same sort of welcome when they first got here - "Irish need not apply." Now we're engineers, doctors, laywers - heck, one of us even became president!
