Maybe if we get out of the Middle East things will somewhat return to 'normal' like they did in the early 90's.

Alias 0 #5 July 14, 2005 Agreed. But look at the jump between 2002 ($1.35) and 2005 ($2.33) 74% increase Now thats's an adjustment! Carpe Diem

It was cheaper last year factoring all those things in :-) Gas is the most expensive it has been in 10yrs when factoring inflation and cost of living. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

storm1977 0 #8 July 14, 2005 we do, but it's like this..... If you are born blind... No big deal! you never knew what it was like to see anyway. You don't know what you are missing. If your sight was lost at 20yrs old, it is a lot tougher to handle because you will always know the convenience of sight and forever miss it. You have always had high gas... But it is part of your society... You know how to cope with it better :-) We always had cheap gas, but it has doubled in about 2.5 yrs. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
Alias 0 #9 July 14, 2005 Exactly my point. Never fully realized the percentage of recent increase. I would assume that the typical US commuter travels farther then anywhere in Europe, in most cases. Combine that with 6 & 8 cylinder vehicles - and it hurts to watch a Accord fill up at $34.00 weekly when it used to cost $20.00 only a year or so ago. Hybrid alternatives and lesser commutes seem to be the only thing an individual can do. 2.39 in Virginia today Carpe Diem
