Gravitymaster 0 #1 July 11, 2005 QuoteRichardson could take prominent position in Wen Ho Lee lawsuit Bill Richardson Wen Ho Lee Last Update: 07/10/2005 1:49:31 PM By: Associated Press SANTA FE (AP) - Gov. Bill Richardson could continue to play a prominent role in the lawsuit filed by Wen Ho Lee against the federal government. Lee claims government officials leaked classified and personal information about him to the media. Richardson was secretary of the Department of Energy at the time. The Albuquerque Journal reports that Richardson and several others were again identified in a recent federal court ruling as likely sources for the leaks in 1999 that identified Lee as a suspect in an FBI investigation into loss of nuclear secrets to China. Lee was charged with mishandling classified information but was exonerated on all but one count. Richardson has denied in sworn testimony that he was the source for the media reports about Lee. A spokesman for Richardson said he does not comment on pending litigation. http://www.kobtv.com/html/20353.html
AlexCrowley 0 #2 July 11, 2005 The FBI leaked a whole mess of things about Richard Jewell when he was suspected for the Olympic Bombings (which were actually done by christian fundie terrorist Eric Rudolph.) TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
wmw999 2,589 #3 July 11, 2005 And let's not forget that Deep Throat leaked a bunch of stuff about Nixon and Watergate. It's been going on a long time. But "Johnny did it first" didn't work for me when I was a kid. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I meant that the FBI had done pretty much exactly the same thing to Richard Jewell 8 years ago. They also started it rolling w/regards to the anthrax mailings and the scientist who's name I dont recall right now (rumor mongering about his political background and mental state from what i recall, never seemed to catch on in the mainstream press tho). Character assassination and demonization with leaks to the media seems to be SOP when the FBI need a bogeyman. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking. wmw999 2,589 #5 July 11, 2005 Sorry -- I was trying to carry your point along, not counter it. Here is a really interesting article about Deep Throat, and the tendency (already well-ingrained) of the FBI to used deliberate leaks. Gravitymaster 0 #6 July 11, 2005 But this was done purely to deflect suspicion that the Clinton Administration transferred classified technology to the Chinese that has allowed them to advance their missle technology. This is clearly a case of treason and I for one want an Independent Prosecutor hired to look in to these serious allegations. Can you believe Richardson Lawyering-Up and refusing to answer questions? It's outrageous, I tell you.
EricTheRed 0 #7 July 11, 2005 That's classic. Are you really worried about China? The current path of our leaders is a much greater threat than the tech they had already pirated... Try another diversion, this one isn't workingillegible usually

Try another diversion, this one isn't working Are you aware that China has stated that war with the U.S is inevitable? Are you aware that China gave our missle technology to N. Korea and Iran? Do you realise how the accussations against Rove pale in comparison to this? Have you lost all sense of the real threats we face?

It takes the focus off the mantra that all that is wrong in the world is GWBs fault, but many events from the 90's affect the world today whether you want to admit it or not. They won't bomb us though, the war will be economic and the score so far says they may be winning. We also helped the Russian develop the Krypton Missile in 2000. These are real threats but nobody wants to talk about them. No, we would rather whine on about information leaks that in the larger scheme of things have no real consequence. Where is the outrage? Have we really fallen into such a hole filled with petty bickering that we are ignoring the fact that our country is being sold right out from under us? http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=20627

Gravitymaster 0 #15 July 12, 2005 Quote"War [with the United States] is inevitable; we cannot avoid it," said Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Chi Haotian in 2000. "The issue is that the Chinese armed forces must control the initiative in this war." And we sold them the technology to further this prediction. Unbelievable!!!! Zenister 0 #17 July 12, 2005 wont help much... we are pretty much damned either way at this point because of the lack of vision in the last few administrations... it will take years to properly resupply/recover... good politician almost never equals good leader...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
