Quote[Reply]Oh good. This should please the Lefties to no end. Lets just walk away and leave Iraq to fight it out between the Sunnis and Shiites.
It's whats going to happen when the US leaves anyway - lets get serious - you really think the US forces can prevent a "civil" war once out? Or is your solution to stay at all costs?
QuoteYaaay.... No more War for Oil.
Even at this point, you still will not reconize the huge part Iraqi oil reserves are playing in US stratigy?
Interesting
The plan is to stay until the Iraqi Govt. is stabilized and able to defend itself. Once that is acheived, I will be the first one calling for our troops to come home. Troop removal is going to be a slow process over a period of time and it may require sending some troops back in if insurgency swells.
Of course I'm aware of the importance of oil in this scenario. On the other hand, how would you like it if you woke up tomorrow morning and had to sit in line for 4 hours to get your ration of 3 gallons of gas, or had to pay triple the price you pay now for gasoline or textiles made from oil?
The UIA, which took majority, includes the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) and the Dawa Party, both of which are sectarian Shiite parties that seek to establish some form of Islamic state.
A good question at this point is if Bush accepts a vote which provides a democratic result, but not the guy he "planned" to have at the top.
Carpe Diem
