Gravitymaster 0 #51 July 6, 2005 Quote>So is it your contention that it's mostly Right Wingers who live in Beverley Hills? No; it's my observation that they keep Beverly Hills free of homeless people with exceptional vigor. NYC, not so much. Oh, who would the "They", in Beverley Hills be? Why would "They" want to keep Beverley Hills free of homeless people? You said it was Right-Wingers who thought poorly of homeless people didn't you? Thus far on this thread it is generally the right-wingers who want the homeless ejected from public places like train stations. I sense you are on your way to some sort of point. If you'd just come out and say it, we could save another dozen posts of you trying to hint at it.
Gravitymaster 0 #53 July 6, 2005 Ok. The "They" in Beverley Hills aren't the police. They are the Liberal Hollywood Hypocritical Elites who on one hand express such undying love and compassion for their fellow man as long as he stays in the train stations and doesn't interfere with their shopping trip to Rodeo Dr. (ponounced Row-Day-Oh). Yet your post lays the blame for lack of compassion on "Right Wingers." I would say you'd be hard pressed to find too many "Right Wingers in Beverly Hills. billvon 3,119 #54 July 6, 2005 >They are the Liberal Hollywood Hypocritical Elites . . . . Ah, there's the point. Don't know if you've been in Beverly Hills much, but most of the people live there are just plain rich and are not famous actors. They are pretty conservative; just look at the bumper stickers on their SUV's. Hard to believe, I know, but not everyone in Beverly Hills is just like Dustin Hoffman. >I would say you'd be hard pressed to find too many "Right Wingers" > in Beverly Hills. Right! Stop by there someday. You'll be suprised. Want to find the liberals? Head down to North Hollywood, where the middle income people live in the mini-mall spread that is LA. There you'll find the "rich liberal Hollywood Hypocritial Elites" working at car-insurance firms and Thai fast food places.

Beverly Hills is where the term "Limosine Liberal" originated. Here's a little reading material for you. http://www.seeing-stars.com/Live/BeverlyHills.shtml You will note it is mainly movie stars living in Beverly Hills. Hopefully you aren't going to try and convince us that most Hollywood Movie Stars are "Right Wingers.

The House in the song is private property and the law gives them the right to put up a "No Tresspassing" sign.
JohnRich 4 #58 July 6, 2005 QuoteIf you want to kick them out of all public places, you have an obligation (in my opinion) to give them a place they _can_ go. I disagree. I have no obligation whatsoever to them, unless I wish to voluntarily help them out for humanitarian reasons. If they want a place to live, it is their obligation to earn one for themselves. Their choice to refuse work, does not obligate me to give them a free home.
billvon 3,119 #59 July 6, 2005 >I have no obligation whatsoever to them . . . You could see a woman being raped on the street and you would have no legal obligation whatsoever to help her. However, I would feel an obligation to try, because in my opinion that's the right thing to do. There is a difference between what you should be compelled to do legally and what you should do because your conscience compels you to. And I believe it is wrong to kick people out of a public place unless you give them an alternative.
