Ron 10 #1 June 29, 2005 I'll be the first to say....I thought it sucked. Way to much emotion, not enough information. I am not a big fan of "rally" speeches. And his trying to tie 9/11 and Iraq while the way he did it was correct, I personally found lame. AQ is in Iraq and is a large part of the insurgency, but they went there AFTER Saddam fell. Now I didn't spend to much effort into watching it, it was on while I did homework, but it seemed kinda lame to me. I still think he was the best man for the job, and still think he has Americas best interest in mind... But that speech was stupid."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
mr2mk1g 10 #2 June 29, 2005 Just a quicky... and I hold my hand up that this is picking up a throwaway comment and running with it... but, you say he's the best man for the job. Do you think he's the best man for the job, or the best man of the two you had to choose from? This isn't a trick and I don't intend to pass any further comment based on your answer, just honestly curious.
rehmwa 2 #3 June 29, 2005 QuoteWay to much emotion, not enough information. That's politics. I liked him before because he didn't do this as much as the other guys. Time for new speech writers. Best man for the job easily of the main three we had to pick from. (I can't imagine how bad it would have been with gore or kerry - and we'll never know and speculation is pointless). ... Ron 10 #4 June 29, 2005 QuoteDo you think he's the best man for the job, or the best man of the two you had to choose from? I think he was the better of the two. I personally liked McCain over Bush. But Kerry and his blue blood trying to be the common man bit, and his constantly doing anything for power really turned me off. Like going to Wendy's and not actually eating the food then going to a catered meal. He would have looked better to me if he didn't try to play as the average man. He had 15,000 dollars worth of ties, and flew his private jet to get 2,000 haircuts. Kerry pandered to whoever would bring him power. He made me sick. I always thought Bush was a real guy. Rich, but not pretentious. Bush is a crappy public speaker, and this speech was crap. The Minority leaders comments made me want to puke afterwards. What a stupid bitch. I thought the whole affair was just a waste of time, and had no info. It sounded like an election year speech and bash."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
Alias 0 #5 June 29, 2005 I feel like you Ron. Bad speech in an important time for support of the Iraq issue for Bush. He blew it! And he is losing support very very quickly. Lost my support a while back - first time in my politically aware life I do not consider myself a Republican - They have turned me, among many others...Independant, for now We need to wrap the Iraq War up soon. Havent we accomplished all of our "goals".....and btw, they'll pick up the pace of fighting when we leave....no matter what. Time to set that date! Bush should have done that last night! Yep, I voted for Bush.....but voted for McCain in the primaries Carpe Diem
