My .02 I think he is refering to game hunters who do it for fun and just toss the animal. I have no problem with people who hunt for food. They may do it for fun, but they also do not waste what they catch. The fuckers who just kill and toss...also are the same way in the rest of their lives...toss shit and waste. Years down the road when we have destroyed the shit out of everything and there is nothing left....our great great great grand kids are gonna wanna know WTF. I have to agree though, those that like to have trophies are asses. Sorry but that is just the way I see it. When I used the 5 ft. number, I new I was using a number a bit on the high side and did so just off the top of my head. Obviously, 4 ft. would be a much more realistic number, but that would still make a span of about 12 feet or more, which is enormous. I still think the picture is a fake. As far as my comment that the guy is an asshole, it's because that type of hunting bothers me. Maybe I'm off base here, but I am assuming that the guy was "trophy" hunting, which is purely killing for the sake of killing. Killing just for bragging rights disgusts me. I am not anti-hunting, although I don't personally hunt. I understand hunting animals that provide food. I understand killing specific animals that present a danger to people. I understand that some animals can overpopulate and their numbers need to be managed. I don't understand killing a magnificent animal for no other reason than the enjoyment of killing. I think the guy is an asshole, not because he is into guns (I am an NRA member and have a bunch of guns), not because he is a hunter (I've been hunting and just don't enjoy it), but because he apparently gets some sort of sick pleasure killing an animal just because it is at the top of its food chain. And I don't want to hear that "thrill of the hunt" BS. If it were the thrill of stalking the animal and getting close enough for the shot, then the shot would be somewhat irrelevant. Nope, gotta KILL, KILL, KILL to make it official. Didn't California recently outlaw "remote-control" hunting over the internet? I'm no big fan of the California lawmakers' anti-gun activism, but killing via the internet is obviously just thrill killing. What about those ranches that cater to rich assholes that want to kill exotic animals. They will even put them in a pen so the asshole can take as many shots as he needs to. Again, thrill killing. I'm not sure where you're coming from, so let's hear it. By the way, I the reason I don't hunt is because I definitey *am* a pussy. I don't like getting up at 4 in the morning, going out into the woods and freezing my ass off in pursuit of a deer. Nor do I like making my way through briars, rocks, creeks, mud, or any other kind of nasty shit that Mother Nature likes to throw at us when I can sleep late and just go to the grocery store. I may not agree with his opinion but I respect his right to have it and the fact that he's quite able to formulate it without having ever shot at an animal for sport. I enjoy those things, i don't expect everyone else too. When i need some deer meat, i will shoot a few does or inferior bucks. The state says i can shoot five deer a year. No way i could eat that much so i take one or two a year. Game ranches: Yes, unfortunately canned hunts do/did take place. What you are seeing there is absolutely the minority. Most ranches very seriously maintain their herd and land to work in perfect unison. They have to, it is their livlihood. I have been to ranches where the meat is processed, packaged, and donated to local food banks if the hunter does not want it. (trophy hunters) I have also been to ranches where it was automatic that you only got the trophy and the rest was donated. I have also been to other ranches where i was only there to take does in order to bring the numbers down to a level that the land could support. I think we agree on many points and i apologize for posing the question of you being a pussy. You obviously are not. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. TrophyHusband 0 #15 June 29, 2005 i've never met anybody that hunt purely for trophy. that's not to say they don't exist, but they are probably a very small percentage of hunters. that said, it is a bigger thrill to down a buck with a large rack than to down a doe with the same body size. i can't explain why. i don't need to hunt, i can afford to buy meat at the store, but i enjoy it very much. when i do shoot a buck, i sit behind it and have my picture taken with a huge smile on my face. i seriously doubt that same smile would be there after a canned hunt. i am an asshole the same as the guy in the moose photo.
