gun control

Recommended Posts

Correction gun control is hitting what you shoot at. I am sure all 120 shots were not aimed at the individual. Some I am sure were aimed at the vehicle to dissable it. But I agree with you it was a cluster fuck;)

If gun control is hitting your target, how the hell do we fix these guys? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they didn't kill an unarmed man, but 120 shots and they only hit him 4 times??!

They should be required to carry muzzle-loaders from now on. Knowing that it will take a while to reload would make them think more seriously about firing that next shot.

Makes you feel REAL safe, doesn't it, to have the cops NOT being all that great at hitting their target? Sheesh! I've heard of other cases too where cops go shit-ass crazy shooting at a suspect, only to hit him w/ a small % of bullets.

Nice avatar, by the way... speaking of targets to shoot at ;):D

I am a Certified Range Safety Officer and Instructor, Pistol and Rifle competitor.

You will find your accuracy can go to hell in a stress situation.

also keep in mind many departments require little practice between qual tests.

there are considerably more self inflicted and friendly fire injuries in the law enforcement community than in the firearms competition community.

is a good place to hone safe firearms handling practices and accuracy

Remember YOU are the only safety.

Yes, you're absolutely right. In fact, during the ban, you could buy hi-cap mags that were made prior to the ban if you didn't mind paying the premium. I saw 15 rd Glock mags going for $89.99! It sure was nice to see them back down to $20 when the ban expired. During the ban I purchased several used firearms with hi-cap mags included.

maybe they felt like cleaning their pistols for only one shot fired was a waste so they just went ahead and shot a few extras into the car to make it worthwhile. A couple a shots into the rear view mirror, a shot thru the tire, one thru the brake light...

Or coulda been all the coffee and glazed donuts that got them jittery. :P

Gotta go... plaything needs to spank me

News:
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will discipline 13 deputies for firing about 120 shots at an unarmed driver here last month.... One deputy will be suspended for 15 days, others will be off duty for lesser periods and some will receive written reprimands...
So, what's the psychology that goes on in a situation like this? I'm thinking that if one officer is shooting, the other officers figure they better shoot too, because the first guy must see something they don't which justifies it. So even if they don't see any reason to shoot, they do it anyway. And they figure that if they don't add their own gunfire, then they could be seen as not supporting their buddies. The more people involved in a shooting, the less likely any individual officer is to get in trouble for it. Is that what goes on?
