Steel 0 #27 June 8, 2005 I just replaced a few words in an utterly bigoted and racist statement from Steel against Arabs/Muslims with America/Christians to demonstrate the point (that it was a ridiculous and insulting statement) and certain people do not even understand that. Sad really. =========================== I find it really hard to believe that you just don't get it. My post was a quote from an Arab. So to say that it is a racist statement against Arabs is a clueless statement. If you don't believe that there are Arabs who can make an objective assessment and see Islam for what it is, then you need read the thread on Muslims stop supporting Islam. Your attempt to draw a parallel with America/Christians might work in fantasy Island. But in reality, its sensless jibberish. Finally, your desire to have points of view that disagree with you sensored is the reason I think less of liberals. Q.E.D.If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.

So to say that it is a racist statement against Arabs is a clueless statement. how do you figure that? Plenty of times I've heard white people, for example, make unfair ant-white statements, or Americans make anti-American statements. And you said this Arab was not a Muslim himself. I got news for you, people from different religions will sometimes slam one another, even if they belong to the same ethnic group. Look at the Muslim & Christian Nigerians, for example. SpeedRacer 1 #29 June 8, 2005 Quote------------------------------------------------------------------------In Reply To ------------------------------------------------------------------------ and rabidly against the liberal and communist faction of Lebanon society ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Good. Yeah, the last thing we'd want is liberal factions coming into power in Arab countries. Next thing you'd know, they'd be preaching crap like religious & ethnic tolerance, women's rights, democracy. shit like that. Too bad about the overthrow of the Taliban. They really knew how to keep those liberals in line. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

SpeedRacer 1 #31 June 8, 2005 OK, fine, if you were mostly talking about the commies. However:QuoteYou can have all of that and not be liberal. But those things (tolerance, equal human rights, etc) are what liberalism is about. Even you, Ron, are a FLAMING EXTREME LIBERAL compared to, say, the Taliban. It is all a matter of degree. And I believe that a little more liberalism in certain Muslim countries would be exactly what we want. That's pretty much the definition of liberal. Liberal: 1. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry. 2. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded. It is all a matter of degree. I am more liberal than you know. But anyway, you can be conservative and still have equal rights, tolerance..ect."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
Ron 10 #34 June 8, 2005 Thats nice....totally unrelated to the topic, but nice. You can still believe in human rights and be conservative."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
