Newbie 0 #1 May 23, 2005 Have a look at this blog, it has a .mov file that plays clips of "happy slapping", the latest "craze" to (apparently) be sweeping the UK. I don't know what i would do if i were happy slapped. My instinctive reaction would probably be shock, followed by fear of someone coming at me from behind and socking me, so i would probably try and run, especially if it were a gang of slappers. I don't know if i would be so angry as to try and get the guy(s) who did it, but i wouldn't put it outside of the sphere of possibility. I'm not normally very confrontational at all, but i could see me getting the red mist over something like this. I think it's a sorry state of affairs that kids are allowed to be doing stuff like this, without fear or caring about the consequences of their actions. lisamariewillbe 1 #2 May 23, 2005 I personally can not handle being touched from behind in any form if I am not aware that it is coming. I think this is just plain wrong...Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
mr2mk1g 10 #3 May 23, 2005 I'd rip their leg off and beat them with the soggy end. Then ram their chav-hat up their arse. Too much?
Newbie 0 #4 May 23, 2005 Unfortunately (as the video shows) this is way more than just being "touched". lawrocket 3 #5 May 23, 2005 In England? Heck, we know they aren't armed. Some punk decides he's gonna slap me? He'd be eating an open-faced knuckle sandwich. It'd probably be handled much like I handled an assault a few years ago. First the threat would be "neutralized." I may look like a nerd, but I've done some scrapping. Then the happy slapper would have some handcuffs slapped on him by the police. I'd probably take it a step further than I did before and "slap" him with a nice little lawsuit. Enough to attach his mobile phone, his car, or any of the other things he loves. Hopefully, by the end of it, I'd be able to say to him, "So, was that slap worth it? It was for me!" edited to add - yeah, it'd be worth ruining the kid's life for the next couple of years... My wife is hotter than your wife.
Newbie 0 #6 May 23, 2005 QuoteI'd rip their leg off and beat them with the soggy end. Then ram their chav-hat up their arse. Too much? That's pretty tame compared to some of the comments i saw on the Alfie blog which he had up until yesterday, whereupon he seems to have erased them all. The problem is that these days, an instinctive reaction (and perhaps the right one) is to teach them a lesson they won't forget in a hurry. However, not knowing if these kids have a knife (or perhaps even a gun) tucked somewhere makes that probably not the best option. mr2mk1g 10 #7 May 23, 2005 A friend caught a guy trying to steal his bike a short while ago. Held him for the police. As they were taking the guy away the police advised my mate that he should have given him a quick kicking before they turned up. I like that police officer. Deal with happy slappers the same - give them a kicking and call the police. Just for the record though, ripping their leg off and beating them with it is probably going a little far. Stumpy 284 #8 May 23, 2005 I've heard that kind of thing more than once. Police are human too and are quite often frustrated that they can't give someone more than a telling off. As for "happy slapping"? I go for the "seriously unhappy beating with a large stick" retaliation.Never try to eat more than you can lift
lawrocket 3 #9 May 23, 2005 Quotethe police advised my mate that he should have given him a quick kicking before they turned up My wife's brother is a cop. I told him of my last fight a few years ago, where some guy was posturing and saying he wanted to fight me because I was looking at his girlfriend (I was). I told the bartender in front of him that ths guy is being inappropriate, and if something happens, I'm defending myself. That set him off and he gave me a little push (hey, I'm a wimpy looking dude) and I clocked him (he had two friends with him, in addition to the girl - I guess they thought he was a pussy, too, so they were backing him up). I pulle dout a twenty, paid the bartender in cash and left quickly before the fuzz showed up. My brother-in-law said there was no way a cop would have arrested me, that I was defending myself, and that rarely is there a cop that doesn't enjoy seeing a bully with his ass kicked. Most cops are pretty good at figuring out what went on. My wife is hotter than your wife.
crozby 0 #10 May 23, 2005 Found this comment in the Guardian about Happy Slapping. QuoteIn a comment recently posted on a London community web forum, "Happyslapper2" described the craze as a "joke", writing: "If you feel bored wen ur about an u got a video phone den bitch slap sum norman, innit." What ever our taxes are getting spent on, its not ejookashun innit.
Shotgun 1 #11 May 23, 2005 My thoughts? It looks like they've come up with a cute term to replace the word "assault"... Gotta love juvenile delinquents.
storm1977 0 #12 May 24, 2005 I just watched that video..... I can't imagine something like that going on over here in the US. I only say that because if some punk did that to me, I would probably stab him in the leg right on the spot. Wouldn't want to kill him, just make him learn that every action has an opposite reaction!! In some neighborhoods though, they would just shoot the little bitch in the face. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
