tbrown 26 #51 May 21, 2005 A vaccine is really extra-necessary because unlike most STDs, condoms are not effective protection. HPV is transmitted by skin-to-skin contact, i.e. the grinding of groins and pubic areas together during sex is all it takes to pass it on. So unless they make latex undie condoms..... SpeedRacer 1 #52 May 21, 2005 ok heres part ofthe original Savage quote: QuoteIn clinical trials, the vaccines have prevented 90 percent of new HPV infections. Good news, huh? Not for the religious right. Bridget Maher of the Family Research Council told New Scientist magazine that "giving the HPV vaccine to young women could be potentially harmful, because they may see it as a license to engage in premarital sex." While the religious right's war on gay people gets all the headlines, their war on straight rights gains ground daily. They've destroyed sex education in this country, undermined abortion rights, and successfully prevented emergency contraception from being made available over the counter. Now they're going to block the HPV vaccine. "Now they're going to block the HPV vaccine"?? WTF?? How would they do that? All this Bridget Maher did was express her view on the subject. I agree, a very f&*ked up attitude, but how does her expressing it threaten anyone's rights??? And they have not "destroyed sex education in this country, undermined abortion rights" last time I checked. And there's no way they're gonna get enough people together who will agree with Maher's extremist ideas about the HPV vaccine, such that anyone's going to pass a law against producing it. All she did was express her opinion, how is that a violation of anyone's rights? Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

I have about 30+ friends who have had or will have the LEEP at least once or multiple times. I know several people in here who have or will have it done soon. To be told you have cancer of the cervix is no fun. Most of them never had sex without a condom and haven't had any symptoms to be properly diagnosed with HPV. The statistic is 1 out of 9 who have it and don't know it.Please feel free to reply to my posts and pm's, but only if you're smart enough to understand what they really mean.
