SpeedRacer 1 #1 May 18, 2005 Bill Clinton approves of it! Quote By JAN M. OLSEN, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 34 minutes ago COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Former President Clinton said Wednesday the political changes in Iraq, including parliamentary elections in January, will help bring stability to the region. Clinton met with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen and a number of Danish lawmakers during his visit. The former president spoke with reporters before flying to Jordan for a poverty conference. "The Sunnis and the Shiites, the Kurds and all the various tribes can work out accommodations that will allow them to build a stable society, I think that will be good for Iraq and good for the Middle East," Clinton said at the end of a two-day visit to Denmark. In January, Iraq held the its first democratic parliamentary elections to choose a 275-member National Assembly and provincial legislatures. "There is no point living in the past," Clinton said. "Look at where we are now. Everyone, all freedom-loving people would be better off with a genuinely representative, effective, free government in Iraq whatever your feelings are about what went on before." well, if Clinton thinks it's a good idea..... FallRate 0 #6 May 18, 2005 Wow. Clinton did argue that Saddam Hussein posed a very serious and real threat, so this isn't exactly a flip or a flop. It's a great sentiment coming from a man many people have respect for, particularly around the world. FallRate
dorbie 0 #7 May 19, 2005 Clinton is one of the fed Dems who've taken an honorable and consistent position on Iraq, he can afford to he's not huckstering for kallend's vote. He's actually been sympathetic of Bush on the Iraq issue, that's why the press doesn't like to put him front and center on this issue and why this comment might surprise readers of the NYT.
