They're like the French--Still under the delusion that they're relevant in the world.

Relevant enough that you'd be obsessed with them!:)

Who's obsessed? I saw the link, and posted a sarcastic response. Unless by "You," you mean the US Govt. And while yes, I am property of said govt, I really couldn't care less about DPRK, except for the fact that it's an interesting study, in a "1984" sort of way...

There is also a theory that this is all just a grand deception to make the world think that they have a nuke, when they really don't, as a way to ratchet up their power and position for negotiations.

But even if so, that little fucker is playing with fire...

to bad we wasted so much time, energy and lives on a country that wasnt actually a threat...but i guess thats what happens when your leadership only sees what they wish to see....

ahhh, hind sight is always 20/20 isn't it. hopefully, countries will find ways to settle differences with words instead of fists but, hey, if you think that sadam's regime was not a threat to the u.s. then, we simply have a difference of opinion and arguing over the internet is entertainment only.

We humans will never get to the point when wars are a distant memory.
If we have no more wars then the planet will suffer from over population which, historically speaking, leads to more wars.
Pessimistic? Perhaps. Realistic? With out a doubt.
Like it or not war is here to stay just like Desease.

Well, hopefully the Mars program will takeoff. We can then send some of the population there. There's enough room on Mars that we could go at least, say, 50 years before having wars there.

Actually, not true. Because resources are infinitely more scarce on mars than they are on earth, over population would require far fewer people and the squabbling would begin. Back to square one

Don't worry. This time we'll just sit back and wait for Seoul or Tokyo to become a ball of fire and light.

Then we'll ask the liberals what they want to do about it.

It takes two willing parties to settle differences that way. If one of them doesn't want to participate, then you have a problem. The world is full of tyrannical leaders who don't give a shit about settling differences peacefully.

What are you going to do about them?

Maybe if we just try being nicer and give them what they want, they will like us and then the world can live as one.:S

Maybe you were just being a smart-aleck, but some people actually believe that. The problem is that what the Muslim extremists want is to destroy our way of life. And we're not giving that to them. So then what?

It is said that the best comedy has it's essence rooted in the truth. Kinda art imitating life and visa versa.

the funny thing is it wasnt hind sight.

LOTS of people pointed out NK as a greater threat, (not just here, but administrative experts and advisors as well) they were all summarily ignored and sidelined as it wasnt in the agenda...

Sadam wanted to be a threat, but did not have the means.. 10 years of embargo had seen to that... post invasion simply confirmed it.. and now we are in a piss poor position to do any thing other than threaten NK because of a preplanned agenda on the part of the current administration.. [:/]

What should have been done about NK? Any actions are going to have to be acceptable to China and they have rejected the recent oil embargo proposal. If China wanted to rein in NK, they would. So what should we have done?

The argument that we should have "done something" anout NK first, reminds me of the silliness of trying to convince a judge that you shouldn't have been given a speeding ticket because there were other cars going faster and they weren't ticketed. It isn't always the most guilty that is brought to justice first.

Lets not forget that China was the country that stole our guidance system and in doing so, increased their nuke delivery capabilty 10 fold virtually over night and did so under Clintons watch.
NK's desire to build nukes was brought to the attention of the clinton administration and Clinton, being the pussy he is, did nothing about it. He preferd to stick his head in the sand. In additon to that, he did nothing about the three offers from Sudan to give OBL to the U.S. That's two very distinct mistakes on Clintons part and HE is directly responsible for much of what is happening in the world today.
One could say that GWB was left with a rather shity mess to clean up after clinton.
Looking back at clintons terms, it seems that he was terrified of getting involved in any conflict that might cost American lives. He clearly thought he could win his battles with out putting troops in the Ground. How many times did he send million dollor missels into a ten dollor tents to kill targets that were no longer there?
When U.S ground forces got hit hard in Somalia, Clinton tucked his tail between his legs and ran sending the clear message to the world that the U.S lacked the will to fight

Some believe that all we have to do is be nice and the world will be nice back. I call those people fools. If you act like a coward the rest of the world will treat you like one
