BillyVance 35 #1 April 25, 2005 I was not sure if this belonged in The Bonfire or if it was appropriate here... but it's pretty cool... =================== Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq, stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil), fertilizer and some grass seeds so he can have the sweet aroma and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted. Upon reading this and seeing the picture, please say a prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
DrunkMonkey 0 #2 April 25, 2005 I'm suprised that she was able to send soil. That's a HUGE Dept of Agriculture/Customs no-no.
wmw999 2,589 #3 April 25, 2005 Probably only coming into the US. I don't think either of those entities care what we send out of the US. It's up to the Iraqis. And it could be that the dirt is sterilized (but dunno about that). Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
Lindsey 0 #4 April 25, 2005 Do things grow in sterile dirt???? Funny thought. linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail

tcnelson 1 #6 April 25, 2005 yes, grass does not need assistance from any other organism to grow; it just needs nutrients found in the soil such as nitrogen, etc."Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
