SpeedRacer 1 #1 April 5, 2005 clicky http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20050405/en_afp/vaticanpopeturkeyagca I remember reading the transcript of an interview with this Agca guy a few years back, where the interviewer tried to ask him why he tried to kill the Pope. The guy never really gave a straight answer. He'd say one thing, then three sentences later say something that completely contradicted what he'd said before, and then he would say something completely bizarre & off-the-wall. Frickin' whack-job. BillyVance 35 #2 April 5, 2005 Well, I also remember that the Pope visited Agca, his would-be assassin in prison, and talked with him one-on-one for like 15-20 minutes, then told him he was forgiven. Agca knelt and kissed the Pope's hand. I don't know Agca's current state of mind, but I probably wouldn't let him out just for the funeral. The publicity and animosity that people might still have against him isn't worth it no matter how much security there is. This is the Pope's funeral, after all, and the focus should be on it."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
dropoutdave 0 #3 April 5, 2005 In principle I have no issues with it, practice what you preach n all that. He has been forgiven. As with the technicalities of whether he should be allowed out of prison for it, who knows. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces...... SpeedRacer 1 #4 April 6, 2005 I just keep thinking of an Eddie Murphy routine that I heard in the '80's: "What kinda guy would shoot the Pope?!. Must be someone who said, "Well, I'm going to hell, but I don't wanna have to wait in line!!" "You shot the Pope? Go right on in!!" kbordson 8 #5 April 6, 2005 I guess I feel that if the Pope forgave him, who are we to contradict that and say whether he should be allowed to go to the funeral or not. In a way, the funeral is to remember the life of the Pope, but it's not "for him"... he's moved on and I'm sure, very happy with his new accomodations. The funeral is more for those left behind... including this guy. He and the Pope had more of a relationship (ok a VERY DYSFUNCTIONAL one) than the Pope and the majority of those going to the funeral. But as stated above, it's the "should he be allowed out of jail" question that is more the one to ask.
mr2mk1g 10 #6 April 6, 2005 This guy aint going to hell though - he repented and the Pope of all people forgave him his sins. Unless he's done anything wrong in the meantime, he's off to meet the Big Guy when his sand runs out.

In that case I'd suspect some sinning - sex not between a man & woman (Missionary Position only please) for the purposes of making a child would be a pretty sure bet! Mike.
