College Faculties A Most Liberal Lot, Study Finds

"College faculties, long assumed to be a liberal bastion, lean further to the left than even the most conspiratorial conservatives might have imagined, a new study says.

"By their own description, 72 percent of those teaching at American universities and colleges are liberal and 15 percent are conservative, says the study being published this week..."

Startling news there John!

Right up there with "most gun ownership advocates belong to NRA."

Hey Paul, there are 60-80 million gun owners in the USA. There are groups with significant membership who call the NRA too lenient and willing to compromise.

The NRA has about four million members, give or take.

Care to try again? :P

Probably not true. Membership peaked around 5M, now is somewhere in the low 4s. I dropped it to save them money sending me mass mailings and other crap, occasionally send money direct to the lobbying side.

4M might translate to 1 in 20 gun owners.

I wonder why people pay so much to hear what they have to say:S

it's not that we are learning how to live from professors, it's that we need those neato pieces of paper that one receives when we're done "listening". :S:D

Great! Maybe the next generation or two will be educated enough to get this country, media, companies, etc back on track.

Maybe its due to the outlandish price of an education these days and your class is required for certain degree plans.

Hmmm, liberal equates with intelligence and education.

Let's see that means conservative equates with ...? :)

No need since you obviously didn't comprehend what I wrote the first time, even though you quoted it.

I didn't write gun owners, I wrote "gun ownership advocates." Find me a large percentage of the hard-core 2nd amendment loud mouths that don't also also belong to the NRA and you might have something.

I've never heard you say anything about "1st admendment loud mouth" when talking about US citizens advocating protecting their rights as laid forth by the country's founding fathers...

A wee bit biased are we?

Aren't we all? ;)

That said, you -rarely- see from 1st amendment advocates the type of vitriol typical of the type of person that frequently interpets the 2nd toward his own end. Nor should you! The 1st is pretty clearly written and doesn't have the vagueness of the 2nd that required a marginal Supreme Court interp in order to satisfy its advocates of the meaning of the phrase "A well regulated Militia . . . ".

So . . . biased? Eh . . . maybe. Then again I -might- have just wanted to tweak John a bit, since clearly this was his way of tweaking at least one of the other regular members of this forum and he was probably pretty sure was going to read it and take umbrage. ;) If others rose to take the bait (especially if they also happen to belong to the NRA!) then all the better! ;)

My point is that those of the liberal persuasion tend to get bent well out of shape with their "pet" rights such as free speech and freedom or religion, etc; however, they tend to turn their nose up at the right to own weapons as laid out in the same document.

The supreme court has had to explain freedom of speech more then a few times, its not laid out as clearly either. I'm sure you know that, but incase feel free to google and you'll find that every single right has been fought in the supreme court atleast a few times.

At least a liberal education helps one to know the difference between singular and plural.:)

That's funny coming from someone that doesn't teach liberal arts.

I don't think that you've grasped that every post I post in regards to you I've got a big smile on my face, since usually I'm replying to some sort of ludricus statement you've made.
