Actually heard a news reporter say " Terri S is still dying". What else is happening in the world while most Americans are rivited on MJ's trial, baseball's drugs, etc.

"aftershock" is what I heard re: Indonesia. Ninety days after, "aftershock"! Is this correct?

It can be, I believe. Geologists have criteria for considering a series of earthquakes to be related, probably based on location or fault line. 90 days is a microsecond in their realm.

Yeah, the media is obsessed with Teri Schiavo, to the exclusion of all else. Have you noticed how major news shows have hardly even mentioned Iraq for the last two weeks?

I expect it won't be long before some goofball liberal will claim that Teri Schiavo's situation is a Bush conspiracy to get the public's attention off the war...

Only problem is, is that I'm not really a liberal. ;)

Seriously I think this Schiavo situation is really sad and totally unnecessary (the media coverage). She's been messed up for 15 years with no chance of a meaningful life. I can understand the parents point of view if they are willing to take care of her and starving her does seem a tad on the barbaric side. But she is no where near coherent to what the family says she is. Her brain is mush. I hope she rests in peace.

driving in today one of the local radio shows (in relation to rising gas prices and a proposed gas fee for food delivery) stated.. "apparently you need a starving coma patient to get any attention around here"

I can understand the parents' point of view on it, but what pisses me off more than anything are the doctors going on national TV and saying that she'll recover having never examined her, and some of the religious groups/politicians getting involved for the sole purpose of free media exposure.

Ironic, ain't it? I remember conservatives claiming that Clinton's attack on Bin Laden's hideout was an orchestrated attempt to get the public's attention off the Lewinsky saga. Of course, a few years later they were attacking him for not going after Bin Laden _enough._

We are not hearing much (although too much) about these things. Mostly we are hearing about a bona fide murder mystery. It started with someone finding an arm and a leg lying in the street in the centre of Copenhagen. After a "thorough" search of the entire neighbourhood by the police, someone walking his dog found the rest of the body in a nearby street :S

All the papers carried the picture of the head yesterday, to help identify this guy. They now know he was a taxi driver, and they are looking for an american and a Danish-speaking asian with whom he was last seen.

Now that had nothing to do with Terri S, did it? ;)

EDIT: It turns out they just found the crime scene in a building more or less next to some of the body parts. Hooray for the Danish police and their definition of a "thorough" search. :S

I am going to the Royal Theatre tonight right next to this. Who said Denmark was a dull place?
