AndyMan 7 #1 March 22, 2005 Teri Schiavo's case is the second recent discussion around the institution called 'mariage'. I'm curious if there's many people who opposed gay marriage, but also want the courts to intervene in the Schiavo case. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. SpeedRacer 1 #2 March 22, 2005 I didn't vote because I was too busy thinking WTF???? i also neither support nor oppose gay marriage. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
AndyMan 7 #3 March 22, 2005 There are some interesting parallels. I'm curious if others see them. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
tigra 0 #4 March 22, 2005 There's only 10 votes and those ten are from a very small sampling of society. Its a flawed poll.

There's only 10 votes because it's been posted for 10 minutes. I hope more will vote. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

But what about peole who are for gay marriage, are pro-husband's rights, but also want mandatory handguns in schools with convicted child molester teachers? That would be a _really_ interesting poll. tigra 0 #7 March 22, 2005 What about the option "Will bake cookies for the convicted sex offender next door"?
Thunderbow 1 #8 March 22, 2005 Well if he was a loving husband that seemed to have her welfare at heart instead of raising another family with someone he isn't married to I might take his side. As to gay marriage - no I don't agree with it. I don't hate gay people either. I am a Christian and believe that it is a sin. I hate the sin, not the sinner. I would not turn a gay person away, I would not insult one. I am not perfect and have told a gay joke or two, but I strive not to. I pray for them to turn away from their lifestyle as some have proven is possible.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am. wmw999 2,588 #9 March 22, 2005 Remember it's been 15 years since she was struck. He spent the first few years being convinced that she was, in fact, in a persistent and deteriorating vegetative state. How long is right? It was 8 years after she entered this state that he petitioned the court to decide if he was the right person to make the decision (that was the first thing he asked for -- NOT the removal of the tube). And he's trying to have what he considers to be her wishes carried out. If he just wanted to be rid of her, it would have been easy to either not bug the nursing home to take good care of her (it takes a lot of bugging) or just divorce her. Thunderbow 1 #10 March 22, 2005 I agree that it would a strong person to stay around for 15 years. But I guess my biggest problem is that I have seen videos of her and she sure responds a lot more than a vegatative person. I listened to a doctor that spent 10 hours evaluating her recently and he says he has seen worse cases come around. He is a neuroligist that has been nominated for Nobel prize. Sorry, can't remember his name.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

Fireflyer 0 #12 March 23, 2005 wow. i am pleasantly surprised (for no particular reason) that i am in the majority of the voters (you sometimes get a myopic view of "your little world" in your home town...good to see i am in the flow of the world's thought process...) So till then we wont know. The whole naming someone a nominee is wrong, no one knows for sure.
DrewGPM 0 #14 March 23, 2005 Apparently he was nominated for a Nobel Prize...it's on his website, so it must be true http://www.hni-online.com/
Casurf1978 0 #15 March 23, 2005 He's not mentioned anywhere on the following site. http://nobelprize.org/medicine/nomination/index.html
billvon 3,117 #16 March 23, 2005 > He's not mentioned anywhere on the following site. That's because a republican politician 'nominated' him for a "Nobel Peace Prize in Medicine" (which of course doesn't exist.) http://www.hnionline.com/nobel_prize_nomination.htm Coming soon - a World Supreme Court Justice Nominee (recently nominated by Jeb Bush) goes on the record stating that husbands have no rights when it comes to deciding DNR issues for their wives. Casurf1978 0 #17 March 24, 2005 This is pretty funny. Here we have a politician who IS NOT a member of the nomination committee, not an MD, but an attorney nominating this Doctor for a prize that doesnt exist. What a freaking Moron. I would like to see the committees reply.
