smiles 0 #1 March 20, 2005 Just my "rant"--- U2 Vertigo concert in my city (Vancouver B.C.)is April 28th & 29. I am a huge fan- the ban rawks but couldn't believe the hassle trying to buy tickets. Some of my friends lined up for 4 hrs. to buy direct from Ticket Master, the rest of us (over 25 at separate locations)were online the second the tickets were up for sale...we even asked everyone we knew to help us purchase online. Not one of us got tickets....re: no tickets available. Online they announced the second show (April 29th.) after 10 minutes, and even so...still "no tickets available." Now.............forced to buy from scalpers and I detest them all.........none seem to be local, infact seems they are for sale everywhere in the world except local. Sucks major.... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/02/07/u2_ticket_apology/ QuoteU2 says soz for online snafu Rock gods U2 have apologized to fans who were unable to get their hands on early tickets for the band's next tour. When tickets for the Vertigo/2005 tour went on sale - the idea was that U2 fans would get first chance to buy them. This didn't happen. An open letter from U2's drummer Larry Mullen says: "There was a mess up in the way the tickets were distributed through U2.com for the Vertigo pre-sale. Some of it was beyond our control, but some of it wasn't." Mullen said the band is trying to find a fairer way to distribute tickets for US dates in the autumn. I figure the band was more involved to capitalize...re: Steve Jobs (Apple) designer ipod was a flop....charging fans for the right to buy tickets??--fan club charge....ticketing charge...handling charges..facility charge.... What the hell is a reserved "standing floor ticket" or a reserved seat ticket???? I certainly have lost the adrenalin rush to be at the concert now....refuse to buy from a scalper, and am not impressed with U2's "soz for online snafu." This month U2 has been holding full production rehearsals for its 2005 Vertigo tour in my city (Vancouver, B.C) at General Motors Place arena. Wow! they will save huge bucks here in Canada!! A friend saw Bono in Coast Mountain Sports at Pacific Centre here--buying some hiking boots... wow, I am not so impressed. The band broke from rehearsals to attend its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 14th in New York City. http://www.u2.com/news/index.php?mode=latest QuoteWhen Bruce Springsteen inducted U2 into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame, he delivered a spellbinding and generous tribute. "Uno, dos, tres, catorce. That translates as one, two, three, fourteen. That is the correct math for a rock and roll band. For in art and love and rock and roll, the whole had better equal much more than the sum of its parts, or else you're just rubbing two sticks together searching for fire. Correct math for a rock and roll band??? Don't capitalize on your fan base or else you're just rubbing two sticks together searching for fire. ianmdrennan 2 #2 March 21, 2005 Same thing with the NIN concert. Every ticket was sold within seconds. We had multiple people "refreshing" during PRE-Sale events and actual tickets. Nada. Of course I can buy a $50 ticket from an online scalper for $150. Fuck them, I thought this crap was illegal? Jimbo 0 #3 March 21, 2005 QuoteFuck them, I thought this crap was illegal? It's only 'scalping' (and therefore illegal) if it's done the day of the event, and possibly even on the property. Otherwise it's simply capitalism at work. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Kennedy 0 #5 March 21, 2005 If they think that shit is bad, try getting Buffett tickets. That shit sells out in under five seconds every time tickets go up for grabs. Then suddenly 90% of the original available tickets show up on established scalper sites. It's bullshit. Standing in line is a waste of time, and waiting at the computer isn't any better anymore. There just isn't a good way to get tickets anymore. They ought to just sell the tickets for five times the price at the start and cut out all the bullshit. At least then we'd all know WTF in advance, and we'd know who can get them and who can't.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
cloudseeker2001 0 #6 March 22, 2005 QuoteThe new album sucks ass anyway. Yep! I could not agree more. I hate it! I have seen U2 3 times and spent about 1500$ on tickets.......I will sit this one out! At least then the money would go to the band/arena/production instead of the opportunist parasites who offered no added value. Bono could put his take into the World Bank. (did I just say "word"? sorry 'bout that)
