Gawain 0 #3 March 17, 2005 You may want to read a little further. The September timeframe is "a hope", not a set timetable. Silvio Berlusconi is still consulting with the coalition and will not withdraw troops if it impedes the ability of Iraqi transition and capability to defend areas where Italy may draw back.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! miked10270 0 #4 March 17, 2005 Yeah, The Italians are going home. Of course it's all the fault of the US Military. Their tactics & doctrine were completely incompatible with The Italian traditions of desert warfare which were set in 1942. It's well known that The Italian Army expected a mucho longer campaign in Iraq - One that would give them a reasonable chance to surrender to the enemy! Since the liberation of Iraq went so quick, they've had to content themselves with the occasional journalist surrendering, but it really wasn't the same thing. The Italians have only stayed in Iraq in the hope of America giving them a decent chance of surrendering to Iran, but Italians arren't the most patient of people... So home they go. Mike. What you're saying is that the best sign of an imminent US invasion of Iran IS when The Italian "Regimento di POW Campe Filluppi" deploys to Tehran? Mike. Surely he's planning his movements, what ever those might be, in regards of coming elections this autumn. As Europeans are correct folks, they do listen to a country's big chief.
