Interesting libertarian website

http://www.strike-the-root.com/ Interesting stuff here. Anti-war libertarians. They seem to believe that part of libertarianism means we need to stop f&*king around in other countries.

I thought I would post it because there seem to be a lot of libertarian-type people on here.

George Washington certainly warned against "f&*king around in other countries" (well, he chose his words more carefully).

That is a common root amongst many "pure-conservatives" as well, Pat Buchanan comes to mind.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Republicans are supposed to want to shrink government & make it more frugal.

How you can have a smaller, leaner, more frugal government when you're trying to take over the world militarily is beyond me.

To a certain degree that's true, but not really. Republicans are concerned primarily with a free country with equal rights for all, at least if you go with the original republican in our country Lincoln. This can easily be extended to defending and promoting freedom abroad. The concept of republicans being minimalistic government isn't necessarily true....that is the libertarian concept.

Afterall, isn't the democratic party, which is forfront to defending the bill of rights, on the offensive towards destroying the second amendment.

You can't put simple descriptors on anything in politics. Platforms and ideas constantly change. To not allow this is to deny that which is fundamental in politics.

oh boy. this is EXACTLY what I've been telling my lefty friends....that there are people out there who are OBSESSED wtih their frickin guns & think no other issue is as important.

Dont' get me wrong...the gun rights issue is ONE issue where people can bring up solid & precise & convincing arguments for it.

But even thought there wasn't much difference between Kerry & Bush re. gun rights (well, both supporthe assualt wepons ban, etc)...there seems to be a lot of people who called themselves libertarians who have a big hard-on for the Bush administration, even though anyone can see that their ideas of miltary domination of the world are going to reap the same problems (ie, massive debt & ultimately, taxes to pay that debt) as anything the Democrats are gonna come up with.

Why do we need a massive military presence in foreign counties if it just pisses people off?? We don't need foreign oil, and I would think that, in the face of all the shit we disagree with in this forum, the ONE thing we agree on is that we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and thereby reduce are dependence on military presence & domination of middle eastern countries.

Let's make our own energy & thereby put ourselves in a better bargaining position.
