UNCOVERED: THE WHOLE TRUTH ABOUT THE IRAQ WAR
directed by Robert Greenwald

YEAR
2004

56 MINS, Color

Filmmaker Robert Greenwald, creator of the 2000 election expose UNPRECEDENTED, considers the Bush administration's case for the Iraq War and finds among the alarmist rhetoric little supporting evidence to back it up. Revealing news clips and interviews with intelligence veterans – including Scott Ritter, Clare Short and Joseph Wilson – make the case that the Bush administration misled the world with dubious statements, empty innuendoes and unchallenged untruths.

Who has seen this captivating film? Comments?

Let us know when you or someone else sees it. Ted isn't exactly a credible source.

Surely you're not maligning the Hero of Chappaquidick, the idol of life-guards 'round the world, the Master of Spanish, the swim coach of the century, and every bartender's best friend, the one, the only Ted Kennedy, are you?

I watched it last night. Now any reasonable individual already knew that President Bush was a bit less than forthright in pushing justification (oh, come on!, you know it's true) for invading Iraq This film was, indeed, devasting in indicting Bush.. I do wonder how fairly it presented it's 'facts', however.

I edited the original post to eliminate the Ted Kennedy comment at the end to hopefully (yeah, right) minimize the "all liberals are _____" folks and focus comments on the content of th film.

Gee, I hope this one is better than Fahrenheit 911.

>Well, hopefully we won't have to listen to all the Bush is this....
>and Bush did that.... whine like we have so many times before

That's the great thing about speaker's corner. If you don't like that whine, just scroll up where you can find a Ted Kennedy is this . . . and Ted Kennedy did that . . . whine. A whine for any sensibility!

The WHOLE truth in 56 minutes! Wow! I am impressed.

Yeah, if they only could of stretched it to 90 :)

Aside from that, what did you think of the film? I really would like more data about some of the claims, myself.

Other issues to the side, how do you feel about the quotes at the end of the film on the nature of patriotism?

I haven't seen it, as a matter of fact I didn't even know of it until a few days ago.

As far as wanting more data about the claims - it's out there, all you need to do is look for it. Hell, searching the Speakers Corner will turn up plenty of discussion (both childish and serious) about the Iraq war, Google and your local library would be good too.

Is there really any new ground on this subject?

I'm in the process of gathering information. I must admit, while I anticipated a wide range of discussion here, I rather hoped that seeing the film would be a prerequisite.

If not readily available for your viewing (I saw it on the Sundance channel) a google or yahoo search on the title is a good start.

It's one of those 'been there, done that' things around here. Of course that's never stifled any other discussion in SC.

I wonder why it never made it into the theaters?

It did - August 20th. But if you were expected a wide release from a studio called Cinema Libre Distribution, you don't see many political films.

The title btw, appears to be: Uncovered, the War on Iraq. Apparently it was a 2003 dvd release that was reedited in a longer form when the success of Moore's movie was seen.
