Gawain 0 #1 March 7, 2005 Wow...from a summary of short articles on Fox News, at the bottom of the page: QuoteNot Black Enough Students at Bowdoin College in Maine are shredding the College Republicans there for inviting a black conservative to speak on campus during Black History Month, according to the student paper there. The critics say North Carolinian Vernon Robinson is not really a black guy; he is, they say, an "Uncle Tom" who has no right to speak on campus. One writer said (with a straight face, presumably) that the Republican student group "displayed its lack of openness by inviting" him. "To have Robinson speak at this school as a representative of Black History Month destroys the racial peace movement that has been formulating on this campus," one wrote. Attached is a picture of Robinson....you be the judge... How did "free thinking" get so perverted? Jeez...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! lawrocket 3 #4 March 8, 2005 This just harks back to the continuing saga from the left: No black man or woman shall be allowed to think for him/herself. Black men and women must think only what they are told to think, and say only what they are told to say. Failure to think and say what they are told by self-annointed liberal elites means that they are reverting to being slaves, and failure of any minority to do exactly what they say will result in harsh penalties... white_falcon 0 #10 March 8, 2005 Yes friends and neighbors, racisim is alive and well, and woe be unto those ("african-americans) that don't walk the "party" line. I have been asked, and asked myself, WHO it is that keeps racism alive and florishing. Think about it. Scott
lawrocket 3 #11 March 8, 2005 Conspiracy? I'd never quite thought of it that way, but I'll bite. Let's take a look at some of those involved in this. A good way to find how this operates is by looking at nominees to the judiciary. Look at how the left treated Janice Rogers Brown, who now sits on the California Supreme Court. Bush nominated her a couple of years ago for a seat on the federal bench. What was the reaction? To call her dangerous and spew forth accusations about her opinions in Court decisions. One of them, where she opined that an injunction against use of racial slurs by an employee was overbroad in its wording, was joined by Chief Justice Ronald George in her dissent. Left reaction? "She wants to allow use of racial slurs in the workplace." Note that these same people don't attack the white guy, Ronald George. What about memos to and from Democratic Senators? Remember the one that said that Miguel Estrada was "especially dangerous because he is Latino?" Sure, it was sent by a lobbying group to the Dems. BUT, it is indicative of the entire attitude. What about Ted Kennedy calling Bush's minority nominees "Neanderthal's?" I guess he should have just called them "mud-colors" right? You've got Bill Clinton being called the "First Black President." You've got Clarence Thomas being taken to task for unestablished allegations of sexual harassment. Then you've got Bill Clinton being supported by the same people who attacked Thomas after having well-founded allegations of sexual harassment. How the hell else do you explain the prevailing attitude that "We need more blacks in Cabinet." Then you get Condaleeza Rice. "Oh, well, she's not a REAL black. She's an Oreo. You'll have to do better." Colin Powell? "Another white man with black skin. He doesn't count." Clarence Thomas? "Uncle Tom. He doesn't count." JC Watts? "Sell out. Try again." Big point - liberals claim to want more minorities involved in upper-level government posts. Why? Because they truly believe that minorities are supposed to think a certain way. Unfortuantely, these same folks underestimate minorities greatly. They just cannot seem to accept or enjoy that minorities can be conservatives or liberals, communists or libertarians. Go read Plato's Republic. There's a part in there called "The Allegory of the Cave." There's the part about the one prisoner being released to see the light, and upon his return to darkness, his eyes have not yet adjusted. "Men would say of him that up he went and down he came without his eyes; and that it was better not even to think of ascending; and if any one tried to loose another and lead him up to the light, let them only catch the offender, and they would put him to death." Sounds like this whole thing. Many on the left (not all of them, but certainly a great deal of the power structure and infuence) simply cannto believe that a minority would have a conservative viewpoint. Thos with that conservative viewpoint will be ridiculed, and all attempts will be made to destroy them politically. My wife is hotter than your wife.
