JohnRich 4 #1 March 1, 2005 Remember just a short time ago how anti-gun Michael Moore's bodyguard was arrested for carrying a gun illegally in an airport? Well, now we have an organizer for the Million Mom March against guns, being arrested for having... an illegal gun! From the news: Annette Stevens' son was shot to death in 2002. Since then, Stevens has become involved in the anti-gun-violence movement. She helped establish and is president of a Springfield chapter of the Million Mom March, an organization that aims to prevent gun violence. Last fall, she appeared with other anti-gun advocates at a Statehouse news conference to urge federal officials to renew a ban against semiautomatic assault weapons. She has now been arrested for having an illegal gun and drugs in her home. She stands to be charged with not having a valid firearm owner's ID card as required by law, for defacing the identification marks on the gun, and for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. Source: State Journal Register It's cute how these people don't want anyone else to have a gun, while they keep one for themselves. That said, I shouldn't need to remind you that due process is required before you can legitimately assume the gun and drugs in her house belonged to her. It's not quite as brain dead obvious as the airport possession by a guy that on occasions worked for Moore. It does not matter if you are a woman, or a teenager, or a liberal, as long as you are not somewhat conservative, male, NRA member, you should only get a slap in the wrist, but god forbid a US soldier has to defend himself, or his troops, and has to shoot an obvious enemy combatant in a combat situation, and all hell breaks loose!. They want them jailed for life, or facing the death penalty.... So, she wants to stop gun violence, but won't give information to anybody who can put these gun-users away. Reading this article, it seems that she may be involved with, or at the very least know, about some people who killed in retaliation for her son's killing. That seems to be a possible undercurrent.
