craddock 0 #1 February 28, 2005 Anybody else in NW IL. go to the annual Gat gun shoot? They had factory reps there with all the new guns and some great deals as well. The best deal was a SA 1911A1 Loaded for $499 or a Loaded Operator for $599. The best part of the show was that you could shoot any hangun you wanted to and you were only required to pay for the ammo. It was a Zoo early Saturday but I was able to shoot several different types of Firearms. You could just keep trading it in for another gun and keep shooting as long as you want. You could chose from the manufactures guns or the stores guns. Anything from a .22 to a .50 The largest I shot was a .44 Mag Ruger Red Hawk One thing I learned is that you don't want to be anywhere near the S&W .50 cal at an indoor range when it is being discharged. You really need both ear plugs and muffs to tolerate this firearm. I just had muffs and it hurt! The funniest thing I saw was a guy in the lane next to me with a magnum Semi-auto (Desert Eagle?) and a laser sight that appeared to be mounted in the return spring shaft area. I actually could not see the laser on the gun, but it was on the paper. He must have fired 8 to 10 rounds at the paper target from about 50 feet (mabey less) and did not even get on the paper!! He brought it in to about 25 feet and got on the paper. It was a good time and a great chance to shoot many different types of handguns to really get the feel of what fits you the best. Sadly, I did not buy anything as I could not make up my mind. Now I really wish I would have bought the 1911 just for the deal even though it was not really what I was looking for. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

That sounds like a heck of a lot of fun. Quotea laser sight that appeared to be mounted in the return spring shaft area. I actually could not see the laser on the gun... Sounds like the ones that replace the recoil spring guide rod: http://www.opticsplanet.net/lasermax-laser-sights-for-government.html There are also some that are built inside replacement handgrip panels. http://www.blackwaterusa.com/btw2004/articles/0712frank.html I wouldn't care for the add-on external mounted variety, such as those that attach to the front of the trigger guard, as they are too likely to be bumped and knocked out of zero. MC208B 0 #3 March 1, 2005 Man, that sounds like a great time! I'm still trying to find a place to shoot my WASR10 here on Maui. Maybe go hunt some hogs with it later
