Although, you'd really have to include all accidental and wrongful deaths for such a comparison to mean anything.

That was cold blooded murder in your article (probably induced by the mother, but good luck proving it), not any sort of accident. Besides, I didn't see any mention of a permit.

Yes, I may have been an accident, but it was your negligence that caused it, unless there is soemthing mechanically wrong with the firearm.

Anyway, back to the discussion at hand, it's been pretty well proven that people with permits are vastly more law abidign than the general population, and of the shootings by permit holders, I would wager fewer of them need scrutiny than police shootings.
(yes, I have a few departments in mind)
