RoadRash 0 #51 February 18, 2005 QuoteI do stand my gound however that some people just don't eat enough meat I tend to agree...The problem is that especially in the United States, we eat too much of the wrong meats...Yes, I was a vegetarian for 5 years...Yes, I knew a lot of vegetarians...and I also know of a vegetarian quite recently whose doctor said that she wasn't eating right and because of a condition she had was forced to start eating tuna/salmon. But then again...this has nothing to do with guns...unless you want to say that every person who owns a gun is a blood thirsty hunter who just wants to kill animals whether they eat the meat or not...A misconception that I grew up with, and a stupid one at that...... ~R+R...~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~... mnealtx 0 #52 February 19, 2005 Craddock hit it out of the park with this one - education is the key. We all know that a hot stove can burn a child - do we build a cage around the stove? No, we educate the child to the dangers of it. Education really *IS* the key. Why is it that the NRA's child safety program (Eddie Eagle - "Don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult") is bad, but the Brady bunch's program ("Don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult") is good? We'd all be better off if we educated the kids about guns like we would about a hot stove - explain the dangers, make sure they UNDERSTAND the dangers, then supervise them with it until we're confident that they're acting safely. Let's gun-proof the children, not child-proof the gun...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
JohnRich 4 #53 February 22, 2005 QuoteDon't you find it odd that so many people are proud of living in a country where apparently a firearm is needed can be owned to protect one's life? I fixed your question. And the answer is now: "no".
JohnRich 4 #54 February 22, 2005 Quotenot everybody thinks the answers is everybody having a gun. It's nice to live in a country where those that do think that would be helpful, have the freedom to exercise that choice.
JohnRich 4 #55 February 22, 2005 Quotefact remains, crime is still rampant in the US. Well, the FBI says that crime rates are at their lowest point in 25 years. But maybe you know something that the FBI doesn't.
