How is it possible to live next to these people and not know what is going on in their house? I think of what these children went through and it makes me sick to my stomach.

How anyone could lay eyes on one of those kids and not know there was a problem is inconceivable, and I don't understand how any person's need to not get involved could reach this far.

Once I was involved in a child abuse case that was not *this* bad, but was pretty close. I was very impressed with how another person who got suspicious went to the house and DEMANDED to see the child, and then went into the house and took him. THAT's a good neighbor!

A 59 lb 16 year old boy, and twin 14 year old boys who weigh 36 and 38 lbs, the three of whom are forced to share the master bedroom closet with two sisters...and the "parents" are driving a Lexus SUV when not in their 1996 Prevost Marathon ($250k+?). Absolutely disgusting!

What's interesting is that this couple who was not feeding the kids was picked up in their Lexis and had a motor home. They were obviously pretty well off, financially.

It is shocking to me what people will do. These are the types of people whom I do not think will last long in prison.

So I'm guessing they have plenty of money for a good defense attorney. I can't imagine what kind of lawyer would defend this couple in court. It would have to be a completely empty human being.

I cannot see how people could adopt these kids just to treat them like that. I just hope these kids will be given to caring people who will love them. It's sad to see how inhumane people can be.

The news story doesn't report what the parents did for a living, or if they received any kind of assistants from the government. Makes me wonder where they were getting their money to buy a motor home and a nice car. Were the Dollars adopting children to get more government assistants?

Were the children all adopted at the same time, when did the abuse start, and once a child is adopted, isn’t there some kind of follow up that the agency needs to do? How long and how often does a follow up happen?

You know, I had not even considered that aspect. It is possible that they were receiving a stipend to care for the children, and used this stipend for their own purposes.

These poor kids need expert help and supervision - not only are they severely unhealthy in the physical sense, they're probably emotionally and mentally malnourished as well - that will take MUCH longer to heal than their little bodies.

I agree, it's not an excuse. I'm so sick and tired of hearing people use that for an excuse to get away with what they do to hurt children. Damn it, pull your head out of your ass and do some thing to make sure you don't hurt some one. Maybe if we start treating them the way they treated other people, they might think twice about what they are about to do.

Absolutely not an excuse! However, that kind of trauma can leave a person VERY warped with little to no sense of their own value as a human being, which is how they "can do such a thing" to another, especially a weaker one.

I'm not concerned about the Dollars now - let God and the justice system deal with them. Violent inmates tend to respect/fear other inmates who've killed adults for pleasure or revenge, but child abusers are scum in prison too. They'll get what's coming.

I'm worried about the kids' well-being. Growing up "normal" and unwarped after something this traumatic and horrible is a rare thing.

Well in houston today on the news they were talking about the hearing for a woman and her husband whose 6 month old was sexually assualted and beaten from head to toe also having a severed tongue. WHY in the hell does a 6 month old deserve this?? What sick jackass can do that to a child? There is no punishment i can even think of that would be enough for these two people to endure. It is disgusting.

Those two are souless monsters. The part that still makes me sick is knowing that there are others out there doing the same thing that we haven't caught yet. Thank goodness for people who do stick their noses into other peoples' business, and bring these kind of monsters to justice. This is another one for all of us to learn from.
