Gravitymaster 0 #4 February 1, 2005 QuoteDean for DNC Chairman!!!!!!!!! I agree. McCauliffe was a light weight compared to Dean. Too bad the lefties didn't run Dean against Bush for the Presidency. Bush would have a major mandate right now.
SpeedRacer 1 #5 February 1, 2005 Yeah, I would have preferred Dean to Kerry for Democratic nominee in 2004. Too bad it didn't come out that way. And I also think that the GOP should have swung with McCain instead of Bush in 2000. Probably would have avoided that whole recount debacle, plus a lot of other shit that happened later. JohnRich 4 #6 February 1, 2005 QuoteDean for DNC Chairman!!!!!!!!! This proves that the Dems didn't learn a thing from the last election. They need to move towards the moderates, not stay on the extreme left. Suits me fine though, as I favor Repubs, and with Dean in charge, we'll keep on winning! Gawain 0 #8 February 2, 2005 Hell yeah I support that! Dean running DNC, Pelosi as the minority leader in the House...kinda makes me feel sorry for Senate Minority leader Reid, who seems like a fairly well-put-together guy. The shrill must be deafening to him. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! The reason the Repubs keep winning is due to the convergence of the moralists and the fiscal conservs. LBJ ran off the southern Dems by signing leg to put an end to racial inequities, so they ran to the only other palce and that has become less sympathetic to minoroties. Point it, the dou are too many to defeat....

SpeedRacer 1 #16 February 5, 2005 QuoteDean for DNC Chairman!!!!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This proves that the Dems didn't learn a thing from the last election. They need to move towards the moderates, not stay on the extreme left. what is it about Dean that makes you think he is "extreme" left? Apart from his opposition to the war in Iraq (not really an extreme left position, as a matter of fact, many right wingers object to it as well) Dean does not strike me as being further left than most other Democrats. What specifically is it that makes Dean stand out in your mind as "extreme Left"? SpeedRacer 1 #18 February 6, 2005 Well George Will and Pat Buchanan are two that come to mind. Pat Buchanan is more like the way Republicans used to be...more isolationist. Back in the '40s and '50s the Republicans used to complain that the Democrats were the "war party". But getting back to the topic at hand....what specific topics of Dean's platform make people think he is "extreme left"? or is this one of those things where "vague notions" are important, and specific facts aren't? Tink1717 2 #23 February 8, 2005 You should not rush to judgment on that. I say let the DNC die off fast as opposed to slow. The DNC are the Whigs of the 21st century. It took the Whigs a decade or more to finally die off. That is what gave rise to the (at that time) more liberal and progressive Republicans. Now that BOTH the GOP AND the DNC represent the right, there must be a new party that is both willing and able to represent the left. We almost had it with the Greens, but they were not able to survive the self destruction of their figurehead, Ralph Nader. There currently is no party that has both the capacity and the capability to represent the left. The sooner the DNC is gone, the sooner the left will be forced to form a new party that will be able to challenge, and hopefully defeat, the right.Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. QuoteNow that BOTH the GOP AND the DNC represent the right, there must be a new party that is both willing and able to represent the left. Well, I still think that you are so far left that everything seems right, but at least you really believe it and have thought out reasons for it. Tink1717 2 #25 February 9, 2005 Quote Well, I'd prefer the libertarian party rise to eclipse both right and left "big government" wings, but hey, at least it'll stay interesting. The libertarians SOUND good, but if you look beyond the rhetoric, you quickly see that the goals are unacheivable with the policies they advocate. The left has no voice anymore. The only option is to form a new and better party to represent the interests of the left. I don't see this happening for maybe another decade or so. So, now that you guys on the right have it (House, Senate, POTUS and, soon, SCOTUS), what are you going to do with it?Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway...
