jumper03 0 #1 January 18, 2005 It's no secret - I love my chevy truck. And being bored yesterday I went to Chevy's website to build my dream truck and I see Chevy has a hybrid. I'm all excited thinking YES!!! I can have my truck and save the environment too! Then you read the 'tails. Their hybrid provides a whopping 2 mpg increase in fuel consumption - 19 mpg vs. 17 mpg. Somebody call the EPA - chevy has the answer to our environmental woes. After reading some more about it though, I think the driving force for this hybrid truck is so you can plug stuff into the outlets in the bed I'd love to have a true hybrid truck that can pull my fifth-wheel. Maybe someday. JumpScars remind us that the past is real

Maybe someday That would be badass, I think its going to be a while until the technology is there to produce that much torque and HP over a long period of time, but someday. Until then, I'm just going to buy a diesel next time around... I agree with you, though, I love my Chevy. I did actually get 17mpg on the way back from FL, though. I about crapped my pants, that's the best its gotten EVER since I put the 2" lift on and the 33" tires. Nevermind the nearly 1000lbs of gear in the back of the truck.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

And she's still got plenty to pull my trailer It'd be nice if I made enough to have a second car to commute to work. I'd get a civic hybrid. I agree with you on diesel, that's what I'm going for - 2500HD extended cab with the Duramax - Dark Blue with Grey interior. oooooo buddy.....Scars remind us that the past is real

Even buying a motorcycle and everything involved I'm still saving about $100 a month due to the cost of driving my truck (gas).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." It basically just gets rid of the alternator and starter, saving a little weight and allowing shutdowns at stoplights. The big selling point for the Chevy hybrid is its generator function, which is a good way to get dual use out of a gas engine. Side note - you do not have to pay motor-vehicle fuel tax on fuel used for generators, even if the generator is a truck. If you're a contractor and you use the generator function a lot you can deduct the tax from your income taxes.
