TheAnvil 0 #1 January 10, 2005 ...the new commercial Bush, Sr. and Bill Clinton did requesting aid for the tsunami victims? I thought the message was good but it was a poorly done commercial. Not very inspiring. Think it could have been done better. I'll send them some more $$ anyway. That's just me. Saw it tonite for the pre-second time. Thoughts anyone? miked10270 0 #5 January 10, 2005 What options do you have for donating in the US? The reason I ask is that here in the UK giving to the Tsunami Relief Agencies has been made VERY convenient. For example, there's a collecting jar at just about every shop till in the country - you've just bought something, been given your change, and there's the tin for you to put it in instead of your pocket. Same with bank tellers. The mobile phone companies, well, mine anyway, sent out a mass text message that allowed you to donate £2.50 simply by returning the text with the money being added to your next bill. How are they collecting in the US? Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Prenait la pisse hors du FrançaisCanadiens méridionaux puisqu'avant lui à la mode. Muenkel 0 #6 January 10, 2005 QuoteHow are they collecting in the US? Hey Mike, Basically the same here from what I've seen. Red Cross volunteers are out on the streets collecting money from passersby. There are cans set up in almost every store I have been in. Local churches are taking up collections. And then there are the large humanitarian organizations such as the International Red Cross, American Red Cross, United Way, Unicef, etc. I find it refreshing to see that for the most part this effort does not recognize national borders but rather it is global. dropoutdave 0 #8 January 11, 2005 I just don't understand why the same large scale collecting hasnt been done before the tsunami when there is 24,000 people dying of hunger everyday and every year 15 million children die of hunger. Puts things in perspective a little I think. Keep giving but don't forget about the other causes. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces......
