funks 1 #1 January 6, 2005 Now I really wish I would have voted, perhaps my one vote wouldnt have gotten this asshole out of office. What a pathetic attempt at acting like he gives a shit. Basketball players are donating 1000 bucks per point for the rest of the season, actors and actresses are donating millions of dollars, etc...and all the leader of the so called free world can do is donate a measly 10K Why did he even bother? Guess he hasnt gotten all of his kickbacks from haliburton yet. Fucking pathetic

So you're assuming he hasn't donated more to other organizations, maybe even 10% in tithes to his favorite church as well? Who says he hasn't donated more then your entire net worth this year to other charitable givings as well? W. is doing more then most Americans so I say its a good thing.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I am basing my opinion on what has been made public. My bet is that any contribution the president makes will somehow be reported to the press, so far no other reports of any contributions. AggieDave 6 #8 January 6, 2005 No, no, no, you're supposed to come back with something witty and close to a personal attack so we can start fighting, then thread drift will eventually get us talking about Kerry's favorite gun choice in which he wants Rosie O'Donnald (sp?) to ban from McDonalds...right? --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." masterrig 1 #13 January 6, 2005 I would have to agree with the fact that Pres. Bush gave 'something'! I don't think it matters, as to the amount someone gives... it's the fact they did 'something'. To some folks, $10,000.00 bucks is a LOT of money. Is that how we judge people? By what's in their wallet? Hmmmmm... Chuck

masterrig 1 #17 January 6, 2005 Maybe, those tossin' in the 'big' bucks are playing a 'money game' under the advisement of their accountants. Maybe, they're doing it for the recognition or to impress the multitudes. No telling what their reasons are. Compare our president's salary to those of Sandra Bullock or an NBA player. skydyvr 0 #19 January 6, 2005 QuoteIsn't Kerry worth nearly 4x's as much as Bush? If you look at the families surrounding both guys, I wouldn't know how to determine this. But it was easy to find out that lip-service-liberal Kerry is personally a lot more stingy than Bush. But you don't hear of OBL doing anything of the sort, even to the island he was known to have considered making his home. This is a stupid argument. (Please note I'm not saying anyone here is stupid, but I am saying the comparison game is pretty stupid.) He doesnt make a move without having an entire advisory team tell him if he should do it or not. His donation of 10K was to get the exact response that people are giving on this board "Well at least he cares and he is donating something" If his heart was really in it he would have donated a shitload more than just 10K. His donation is nothing more than a politically motivated move to get the public thinking what everyone is saying on this board.
jkm2500 0 #22 January 6, 2005 I'll bite.... What do you think would be a worthwhile donation from GWB? I don't think that you have made a viable argument that GWB has made a pathetic donation, in fact all you have done is say that GWB should have donated more. Did you donate more than 10k?The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

Like i said earlier, i believe i donated more than he did when you compare are relative net worths. Yes, I agree that any contribution be it 1 dollar or 1 million speaks volumes. However, 10K coming from the president of the united states just doesnt seem to really show sincerity. Times that by 10 and i believe you are just starting to scratch the surface of a figure that someone with his wealth and public stature should have contributed

sundevil777 102 #25 January 6, 2005 I find all of the donation comparisons by celebs/famous persons to be distasteful. It makes it seem as if the giving is for their own benefit. I don't know how people are finding out how much certain celebs are giving, but if the celebs themselves are letting it be known, it just seems awful to me. I hope it is the charities that are spilling the news and not the donors.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
