The first is, that he had the rules rewritten regarding torture of prisoners to be more restrictive than just stopping short of causing death or organ failure. And also to remove his ability to override those restrictions personally. This is a good thing, but it's a little disgusting that it took him this long to do it, and it smacks me as a CYA move. But, it is something good that he did.

The other is that he tried to put through new import restrictions on textiles from China to support textile manufacturers in the US. Unfortunately, retailer lobbies took it to court and had it overturned in federal court. So the existing restriction that expire today will now be replaced by nothing and the market is about to be flooded with cheap Chinese import textiles. At least he made an attempt.

Question: I've lurked here for awhile, post from time to time but I really do want to understand this "banning" stuff.

So in basic: If you attack some one who is a MEMBER than a greenie can BAN you for a) A period of time depending how BAD the attack is. b) Forever

How about if I attack Kallend now?? he's kinda in limbo right?? I've tried to get him in the past but he's to damn smart for me. (hell he's been in school his entire life...I just went to the eighth grade)

Having read what was said, it seems as if the prof has done a lot worse in the past.

I would say that some other posters have behaved much, much worse in the past (and in the present) and got away with just a warning.

I don´t know, maybe there has been private PM going on that only the greenies know about.

John's had real personal attacks blown off, where this was actually funny and pretty light. Maybe it's a cumulative thing...

Or maybe the greenies are just plain tired of the constant tone here lately and the bar is being raised. I can see a lot of people getting a 'break' in that case.

p - I hopped over to the locked thread to see what's up. Apparently the greenies are intending to curb the recent tone. Good for them. If you see something you think is an attack:

See if you are personally biased against that person or subject. if not, send a note to a greenie

if so, look at it again in light of your own bias. then send a note anyway or not after that review

It a real action you can take and much more constructive than just griping. But much less fun. I really do think these guys mean well.

For the record I sent a PM to a MOD. I asked him not to ban John. The reply was basicly that they have a list of folks that have been pushing the edge so long that they are close to being kicked out of SC forever. John was on that list, and they are sick of the hidden attacks.

They are holding peoples history's against them.

Funny thing is they as of yet do not have a way to track a ban after it has expired, so they are going on feeling, not fact.

A way to track the reason for a ban, and who banned them would be a great step in checking to see if a MOD is showing a bias.

I have been told this has been discussed.

Also, John is not the first person to get hit with this, I think Peaceful J was.
