kelpdiver 2 #1 December 28, 2004 Why are there so few civil libertarians, here? I would expect more from a community that believes in taking care of themselves, with a live and let live attitude. You can generalize most people here into two camps: 1- The Democrat Party angle, as carried out by the ACLU. Any and all forms of free speech, unless it's about a God, or campaigns, and maybe no smut. Gun rights - your state militia has the right to bear arms. Anything else is a gift to you peons who are too lazy to afford your own bodyguards. 2- The GOP side, lead by the Christian Right. All guns for all non felons. Any talk of God is good talk, but talk bad about our country or immoral stuff, don't do it where we can see you. (too often a bad combination when it comes to "negative speech" on abortion clinics) The basis for each of these rights is clear, as is the language in the Bill of Rights. Yet few really support both. Enjoy your holidays, err, I mean Winter Solstice.

Kennedy 0 #3 December 30, 2004 I voted for tyhe third option "I believe in both," but I have to admit I am tired of some people who just won't shut up. Doesn't mean I won't stand up to defend their right to annoy me, though. I've decided there should be a new test before any new law is proposed. "You can suggest any law you want, but it will be enforced by your worst enemy." Now, who wants to propose restricting rights? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
