Poor attempt at humor, but it did bring up some interesting points about just what is parody and what is not. Corrected. lawrocket 3 #3 December 13, 2004 I'd like to see it, since I've now seen the short synopses if the parts. What I find interesting is whether they will explain how some things that are claimed to be First Amendment are not First Amendment issues. For example, one spoke about the boycott of the Dixie Chicks. Will it be explained that private boycott is not a violation of the freedom of speech? Or, will it explain the differences and competing ideals between the First Amendment and, say, Art. I, Section 8, Clause 8 that "To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;" i.e., Franken and Fox. What about the constraints of censorship as related to government funded projects - will it say whether not funding someone's "speech" is censorship? Or will it merely state that "hate speech" is okay, and the government should pay for it. Regarding the "Assembly Required," will it discuss "content neutral" vs. "content based" restrictions on speech, and authorized restrictions on time, place and manner, or will it overly simplify these issues as is so frequently done? Edited to add: Why is the First amendment project only discussing free speech outside of religiion? How about the seemingly ever-expanding prohibitions (mainly by local governments) against any religious expression whatsoever (content-based restrictions) and time, place and manner in relation to that?
