Your claim is that the frequency of kitchen fires and car accidents is high enough that extinguishers and seat belts are a prudent precaution, but that violent crime is so rare that cases where people might use a gun are exceptions, data outliers that can be count on one's fingers. Though even the most conservative estimates are 65k defensive gun uses per year.

Claims are that women have a 1 in 4 chance of being raped in their lifetime. I don't imagine they're nearly as likely to set their kitchen on fire or crunch their car. And that's just one category of crime. There's more than enough women killed by their SOs who violated a restraining order to poke holes in your "probabilities."

So put up. Make a factual argument, not another vague one.
