The Great Kallend was unable to find a chink in the armor of my pro-death penalty argument from a Catholic standpoint - though he nonetheless considers part of it 'feeble' (:P to Kallend) :S

The "Catholic standpoint" considered the Inquisition appropriate. You're right, there's no debating that mentality, and you're right, it's feeble. And the US Conference of Catholic Bishops disagree with your argument (they appear to have made it into the 21st Century).

Thanks.

The article begins with..

"The U.S. military has launched a criminal investigation..."

I fail to see why the US military should be critisised for responding correctly to this situation. I'm absolutely certain that the insurgents are not bound by the same code of conduct.

I understand why they are fighting. I would also fight if some power invaded and controlled my country - whatever the reason. I understand why some individuals in the US forces are seen to over-react in some situations - because those taking the pictures simply will never have a wide angle lens wide enough to truely show those situations.

I take it you're not ready to discuss either Aquinas or Annanias & Sapphira with me yet, eh? If it's feeble, find fault with it.
:S:)

Why would I wish to discuss theology with someone from an organization that tortures dissenters and burns them at the stake? Do you think I'm daft?

I don't think anywhere I said that I am the only one who knows Middle Eastern people.

What I asked was what you meant by the Muslim world. Do you mean all Muslims? That’s a lot of people.
Believe it or not some of them are not even in the Middle East

Like if you see me and I say Hi are you going to duck behind a car waiting for me to explode?

After all I am part of the Muslim world.

You see there is too many people grouping every one in a race or religion.
There is good and bad people everywhere. If you can’t admit that then you are too lost to ever find your way.

I have also asked you many times before to read the whole thread before posting. Please do read it this time and you will see how Rehwma was talking about me. .

So the world revolves around you (B) does it? I wasn't specifically talking about you but you do fit the bill on certain subjects.

I was speaking in general, that it is lazy to bunch an entire group into an easy to stereotype mass. You certainly do this in terms of anything US, but it applies to more than just you. It also applies to radical right wing types generalizing all Muslims as terrorists (which is wrong) as much as you generalizing all Americans evil or whoever generalized all Americans as fat or Europeans as shifty and lazy or Kallend generalizing that children of well to do families in a certain way or KKK member or the US press generalizing minorities in a certain way. It's certainly a real problem with many people of all ages and politics and backgrounds. I have certain preconceptions about freeflyers:P but I try to get past that by taking each person one at a time and look past the weird hairdos and tattoos.

I'll alway post a thanks any time someone has the courage to note that individuals are responsible and we need to deal with them on an individual basis and not just bash the general group they are in. Tonto was simply elegant in recognizing that people are people and in general mean well and that we have to deal with the bad apples one at a time.

I very much appreciate it when that type of comment happens on SC - it's rather rare.

Rehmwa, please note that the particular quote in your post is actually Botellines'. I agree with what you replied to Tonto.

The world is pretty far from revolving around me IMO.

my bad, but you know, what do you expect from someone from my demographic?

(non-political, non-religious, well traveled, white farmboy skydiver with a college education and a technical management type job, wife, daughter, suburbs)

- we're all the same -
