Didn't we tell the world that we had "broken the back" of the insurgency after the Fallujah invasion? I also recall hearing how there would be an increase in violence before we turned over sovereignty because that would be such a blow to the insurgency. They seemed to not even notice. And of course there was the "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" fiasco, where we declared major hostilities over. It seems like perhaps we should avoid declaring victory so often. It makes people think that perhaps since we've won we don't need to keep sending more troops. I agree with you, though, that we need to listen to our military leaders rather than our politicians when it comes to how many troops we will need, and then give them that. What really worries me is what happens six months from now. Let's say we are up to 250,000 troops, the violence just keeps getting worse, and we have pulled every grandma and 300-lb couch potato that's left in the IRR into the conflict. No troops rotate home, ever - and we still need more troops per our military commanders. What do we do?

I find it disgusting that you just belittled the people that served in Vietnam in that manner. Are the medals awarded in Vietnam less meaningful because you disagreed with the war? I honestly hope that you never have the gall to say something like that with a Vietnam veteran in your presence.Oh, hello again!

Someone who was there saying it, and someone who was not are two very different things... If Prof. K was there, than another vet may not take offensively... otherwise, a vet might feel a kiwi injection was in order. Trent 0 #31 December 3, 2004 Okay Bill, go ahead and talk like the Professor here around as many vets as you can find... if they get angry at all you can always come back with, "But, but, but I know a guy who was there and said some stuff like that!" I doubt some of them will listen. But have fun with it.Oh, hello again!

I figure they have a much better perspective on it than we do. It would sorta be like a whuffo telling us what skydiving is _really_ like.
downwardspiral 0 #33 December 3, 2004 Heh I really don't think Clinton's lie about a hummer is a valid comparison. I'm actually surprised you think a President Chaney is a better option. I'm looking for GOOD answers to my questions. BTW I really love the show "Command Decision." The history channel kicks ass and I can't wait to see their take on all of this in the future.www.FourWheelerHB.com

goofyjumper 0 #36 December 4, 2004 Quote Regardless of the reason we went to Iraq, we are there. If the commanding generals say they need this so they can bring our people home sooner.....give it to them. I realize many people are upset about us being "in country" in the first place...but lets try not to presume we know how to resolve a hostile conflict better than our commanding generals while we sit in the comfort of our own homes reading a ridiculous thread on the internet. **dawns flame retardent suit** Yes lets just trust the president who lied to us about the war in the first place.....real good choice! yes cause he knows what the hell he is doing.......oh and by the way, the pres sits in the comfort of his own home just like the rest of us.......do you actually think he works long hours? remember he is the first pres in history to take the most vacations.....................damn america made such a great choice.....----------------- I love and Miss you so much Honey!
