MC208B 0 #1 November 25, 2004 Hello all, just watched the news and it appears that the Republican candidate has won the gov. office in WA state by 43 votes out of 2.8 million cast, incredible. Before you libs starts jacking your jaws about rigged elsctions etc. I voted for the Dem. candidate, she did a good job as Att. General. Every vote does count
WhirledWeb 0 #2 November 25, 2004 I voted for her too, but it appears that Gregoire (the dem) is going to ask for another recount... if she wants the entire state recounted - it'll cost her party $700k. Rossi asked her to concede, but apparantly she believes that 42 votes is a "tie". (from the Tacoma NewsTribute) "...Gregoire called the results 'a tie race' and announced that Democrats will call for a more intensive – and potentially expensive – recount." Come on... let's just move on with the business of running the state already.... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Don't be afraid of death, be afraid of the unlived life. I'm not an expert, but according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer: "Gregoire's campaign is out of money and won't be paying for any recount; the state Democratic Party will. State party Chairman Paul Berendt said he expects the Democratic National Committee to help as well." I think it's the responsibility of the one who asks for the recount (or their specific supporters... their political party) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Many states automatically do a recount of sorts if the margin is less than 2%, but if a candidate wants something beyond the SOP, they get to pay for it. I'm not aware of any incidents in recent history where it has actually changed the outcome.
rmsmith 1 #6 November 26, 2004 QuoteEvery vote does count The canvassing of voters with ballot problems should have been clearly defined as a non-partisan practice, not an effort with filled-in ballots ready for a signature while being observed by a party official. It worked like this: "Hello, are you a Gregoire supporter?...No?...thank you...bye!" Or like this: "Hello, are you a Gregoire supporter?...Yes?...well, your ballot had technical problems, but we have another one already filled-in...just sign right here!" When you vote, does someone hand you a filled-in ballot and watch you sign it? Most voting stations are designed for privacy, i.e., liberty and are free from coercion. MC208B 0 #7 November 26, 2004 this 43 vote difference was from the first recount completed yesterday. Now if recounted again, the dems will have to apy for it. And as for the persons post before this one, I wasn't aware of any kind of pissing contest going on over "lost vote, disenfranchised voters" etc. Actually, both candidates have been a real class act through this period, congrats to them both. I of course hope that Christine wins, she did a good job as atty general for the state under Comandant Locke

Probably was figuring on an appointment by pres Kerry.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. It is amazing that it didn't get widespread attention, seeming a bit unethical, even if not illegal. But the dems get a pass on this stuff.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired.
