Kennedy 0 #1 November 17, 2004 So Condoleeza Rice will replace Colin Powell as Secretary of State, with one of her direect subordinates replaceing her as NSA. (check any major paper) What gets me are the cartoons being published in major newspapers. Since when is a different political stance enough to allow racism? No source, but I saw one about Rice and some aluminum tubes. just wow.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Rebecca 0 #3 November 17, 2004 Aluminum tubes? I don't get it. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
Kennedy 0 #4 November 17, 2004 Here it is, by Danziger. It's not the only one, just one of the worst.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
Kennedy 0 #5 November 17, 2004 Sorry, had some issues with attachments. Anyway, the tubes are just a reference to WMD programs. They have nothing to do with the racist aspect. PhillyKev 0 #7 November 17, 2004 Ok, yeah, that's pretty bad. On top of that, I have no idea what the tubes have to do with anything. Who the hell is Daziger and what papers did this appear in?
Kennedy 0 #8 November 17, 2004 I don't remember which paper I saw it in (barber shop's paper), but I know this guy gets published in the NYTimes and the Washington Post, at least. The aluminum tubes, I don't know what statement or circumstance made him use those over any other controversial Bush issue, but the objects are far overshadowed by the cartoon. I'm not particularly worried about what specific kind of trees are in a forest that deep, dark, and evil, you know?witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
PhillyKev 0 #9 November 17, 2004 No...I just meant it's not only a bad cartoon for its racism, but whatever political message he's trying to get across isn't reaching me either. In other words, it both sucks AND blows.
Guest #10 November 17, 2004 QuoteNo...I just meant it's not only a bad cartoon for its racism, but whatever political message he's trying to get across isn't reaching me either. In other words, it both sucks AND blows. Rice has been subject to race-based attacks like this before - it's nothing new. So has Powell. What astonishes me most is the deafening silence emanating from Jesse Jackson, the Three Stooges (Sharpton, Mason and Maddox) and the NAACP, et al - ad nauseam. What they're really saying is that they consider Rice to be a "House N*****", or racial sellout / Toady of the Man, so it's okay to attack her. mh ps - the asterisks are to spare myself from atacks by the PC Police, but you know what that word is, folks. What they're really saying is they consider the Sudanese subhuman, so it's OK to kill them."' Using the same logic, of course.
rushmc 23 #12 November 17, 2004 How about this one?"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
TheAnvil 0 #13 November 17, 2004 Disgusting. I'd like to see the cartoonist argue with Dr. Rice. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
Kennedy 0 #14 November 17, 2004 So the same people who said Rice was Bush's monkey trainer are now calling her a parrot of Bush. I didn't know mindless parrots could train monkeys, did you? idiotic.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
Kennedy 0 #15 November 17, 2004 Come on Bill, you have to admit those people manage to take offense to the use of the word niggardly in a press conference and get someone fired for it. They don't mind a cartoonist playing up bad stereotype for "their people?" Or do they think it's ok because she differs with them on politics? billvon 3,114 #19 November 17, 2004 How'd I do that? I don't hold any of those people in high regard. But to claim that, since they haven't condemned an obscure cartoon within 12 hours of its publication that they endorse it, is silly. Do you really believe the Israelis are evil murderers? After all, you haven't condemned these cartoons.
cloudseeker2001 0 #20 November 17, 2004 I hate this woman. I do not think she is the right person for the job and I do not think she will work well with other world power leaders. To top it off, she cannot lie very well at all. I get sick when I see hear on Sunday morning shows. I believe Powell was the only sane voice in the upper cabinet and now that he is gone, no telling what may happen. To top it off, she is DAMN UGLY! "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
wmw999 2,587 #21 November 17, 2004 Personally, I hope, and think, that she'll rise to the occasion. She's proven herself able to think separately from the Bush machine in the past, and my hope is that she'll continue to do so. Newt Gingrich did some growing into the part when he became Speaker of the House. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Dr. Rice should be an inspiration to all. Not just Blacks & Women. The liberal Black psuedo leadership is, in my view, betraying their mission by not embracing Dr. Rice or Sec. Powell. As Blacks and Women become more economically and educationally independent; more and more are going to become more conservative. Jackson and his ilk are going to be left out in the cold, esp. under a Rice or Powell presidency. --------
billvon 3,114 #23 November 17, 2004 >Dr. Rice should be an inspiration to all. Not just Blacks & Women. Why? She's another secretary of state. If she does a good job for the US, she'll be an inspiration to all of us. If she sucks she won't be such an inspiration; time will tell. Are you seriously using the "Wow, she's really smart for a black woman" angle? I thought we left that sort of thinking behind years ago. >The liberal Black psuedo leadership is, in my view, betraying their mission >by not embracing Dr. Rice or Sec. Powell. Who? Sharpton? He's an entertainer, not any sort of a leader. If you are looking for liberal black leaders (for whatever reason) you'll find a better one in Barack Obama (or even Powell, who is far more liberal than most people in that administration.)
