Jimbo 0 #26 November 15, 2004 QuoteHonestly? I'd rather Powell was president than Bush. I really do believe that Powell could (have) run, even in 2008, and win by a landslide. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. Kennedy 0 #27 November 16, 2004 Quote 1/3 is not a huge chunk? Particularly when 2 of them are Atty Gen'l and Sec. of State? Not to mention all the post Iraq pre-election defections from his administration. No, Kev, one third turn-over is not a large chunk for a second term cabinet. I don't have hard numbers, but I believe between four and nine would be average. Besides, Powell made it clear from the start that he was only going to be there for one term. He's done more than anyone can ask of a person. There are always reasons for people leaving. Better civilian careers, retirement to the lecture circuit, running for congress (also happened this time).witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
Zenister 0 #28 November 16, 2004 Quote He's done more than anyone can ask of a person. you mean like putting up with a spoiled texan whos preconceptions and powermad behavior has done a good job to alienate rest of the world and create a new generation of terrorists who actually HAVE a good reason to hate us?? yea that is alot to put up with... i applaud Powell for sticking it out for 4 years (and taking alot of public hits while being the mouthpiece of the administration) when it was obvious that his experienced opinion was going to be ignored....____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
