Well seeing that I helped the FCC impose fines on a broadcaster, I know you are dead wrong

You are sitting here bitching about the FCC. You are bitching about the FCC.

You bitch about the FCC all the time.

Now we are going to start rating how many things someone bitches about? Maybe we can get a poll about the most bitched things in SC? Or how some people harp on an AAD??

I know the inner workings of the FCC and how flawed a setup they have. I do believe I came to the defense of Powell in this thread as well. The FCC in its current setup is outdated and and hasn't kept pace with the media at all. Even it's chairman has come out and said that.

It's called freedom of expression/speech. YOu don't like it, change the damn station. Why should narrow-minded puritans decide what I can listen to? UGH!!!

you are also free to get a satellite radio. Then you can have as much or as little smut as you like.

However on PUBLIC airwaves there needs to be a standard that is maintained.

You may not like it, so get Siruis.

I don't think I would want my kids to be able to hear that kind of crap. So I would not let them.

Its called being a good parent.

I should pay for freedom of speech? WHy shouldn't YOU have to pay for your censored-Osmond Family-esque facade of free speech?

Why should the state raise your kids by proxy? You should be monitoring what media they ingest.

You did not answer my question: Why should narrow-minded puritans' mindset be the yardstick to measure what's acceptable?

I would like to see someone with a strong Jewish religous background get a seat in the White House and start stuffing their opinion of what is moral down the throats of the Christian Elitist Right. I'm guessing they would start to bitch about how a religion they don't subscribe to is being forced upon them.

Actually I like the Jewish religion. It is mostly an honest religion unlike the one that is the worlds largest slum lord.

But, I don't bitch about others religions. I let them worship as they please.

Feel free. It is a free country.

You selectivly left out the next line...if I wasn't at work I would search for the quote from Powell saying how the FCC is nearly obsolete.

Simple..becasue the group as a whole has made that the way things work...

Don't like it? Change EVERYONES opinion.

Who said they should? But we send our kids to school that is run by the government...The public areas are controled. And the population as a whole has said they don't want smut everywhere. So like I said...don't like it...Change the attitude of the whole population.

You should be monitoring what media they ingest.

Easy to do if you have to pay for it...Harder to do if it is on all the time on the radio and on TV.

Who said narrow minded puritans? The society as a whole has decided...The majority anyway.

Should we let Larry Flint decide what our children learn?

Let me know when you find it...does not change that you did a 180 one bit however.

See I can say the system is broken and needs fixed..However I don't blame them for doing the job that the majority of people asked them to do.

You just keep blaming the cop.

If you only knew how funny this statement really is....but keep believing something that is false.

You blame the FCC for enforcing the laws. You don't want to blame the criminals.

Your defending this clear truth is whats funny.

Anyway feel free to keep bickering. I see any point in dealing with you when you can't keep a straight line.

If you want to compare it to a cop use this analogy... A police officer is to enforce a speed limit that is "reasonable". No set speeds, just resonable. Officer A issues you a ticket for doing 75mph, but Officer B issues you one for 45 mph at the same exact point a day later with nothing changed. Officer B has a different standerd of what reasonable is. Its hard to define reasonable with the standerd moving every time.

Just like every other law there are things that are allowed in some situations that are not allowed in others.

There are states with higher speed laws than others. There are school zones, work areas.

With the FCC we have time of day, and content.

You can't say "Fuck" on TV. You can say "damn".

There are case studies that people can look at, you can ask the FCC if something is allowed.

Janet and her boob were clearly out.

SPR had been shown before, and the FCC didn't care.

If you ask them, they will tell you if you can do it.

Pretty simple really.

BTW I have been busted for 80 in a 35. I didn't get a ticket. I was taking a very sick person to the hospital. Context is everything.

And the FCC will tell you what is allowed.
