DrunkMonkey 0 #1 November 10, 2004 Um, looking to contact someone in the RAF. I'm in the USAF, wanted to get a list of RAF traditions.
GeordieSkydiver 0 #2 November 10, 2004 I'm in the British army, but I work in aviation, so I could probably find some, we have some RAF squibbers (riggers) ying around somewhere. kallend 2,151 #3 November 10, 2004 WWII (Battle of Britain) RAF song: Oh, the bold aviator was dying And as 'neath the wreckage he lay, he lay To the sobbing mechanics about him These last parting words he did say "Take the magneto out of my stomach, And the butterfly valve off my neck, Extract from my liver the camshaft, There are lots of good parts in this wreck" "Take the cylinders out of my kidneys The connecting rod out of my brain, my brain From the small of my back get the crankshaft And assemble the engine again"... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

It originates with the Royal Flying Corps of the First World War.
shropshire 0 #5 November 11, 2004 I'm ex-RAF.... but a couple of traditions that I do remember ... (1) Send your officiers to war whilst we NCOs stay at home (in the main - N.B there are some NCO aircrew)! (2) Bomb the other poor sap from the edge of space (or over the horizon) from where he's got no chance of seeing you This is a GOOD one! Oh, unless he/she is s'posed to be on YOUR side! (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome
