tunaplanet 0 #1 November 6, 2004 Well I have it narrowed down to 3 Assuming Ashcroft does indeed resign you can bank that his replacement will come from one of these three. I did some brainstrming today and these are the people I am positive the next AG will come from. - Larry Thompson - Rudy Giuliani - Alberto Gonzalez If a gun was to my head and I had to pick one I would go with Thompson. Would be absolutely huge for the black vote. Rudy is a close second for obvious reasons. Would also be a nice arena to vault into the 08 election. Gonzalez would be phenominal for the hispanic people but I hear rumors that he is hoping for a Supreme Court seat. We'll see. Forty-two

We, the People, should get the best person for the job, not just somebody that would be a token for a specific voting block.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
tunaplanet 0 #3 November 6, 2004 QuoteWe, the People, should get the best person for the job, not just somebody that would be a token for a specific voting block. Hate to break it to you but it's possible for Thompson to be the best candidate and be huge for the black vote. Wow, what a concept! Forty-two
quade 4 #4 November 6, 2004 If he was simply the best without consideration for "the black vote" then "the black vote" wouldn't need to be mentioned.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
tunaplanet 0 #5 November 6, 2004 Completely false. Yes, Quade...it is possible for something to have multiple advantages. Forty-two
TheAnvil 0 #6 November 6, 2004 I agree. Gonzalez would make an excellent SC justice. Thompson would do a good job as AG too. Win win scenario there. Don't really give a damn what color or race they are - they're qualified for the positions and have earned GWB's trust/respect. tunaplanet 0 #7 November 6, 2004 QuoteDon't really give a damn what color or race they are - they're qualified for the positions and have earned GWB's trust/respect. Absolutely. Some people just can't grasp the concept that a man who may be the best candidate for the position would also be a huge advantage in regards of votes for the next election from the blacks. Usually it's the liberals that will jump all over that claiming he was appointed just because he's black. Some people can't see that he deserves that position regardless of his color. TheAnvil 0 #8 November 6, 2004 I know dude, but it bugs the hell out of me that a large portion of the population actually gives a rat's ass what color they are while simultaneously roaring that racial prejudice is wrong. You are correct, though. That portion of the population that DOES care about such things won't just see a qualified nominee - they'll see a BLACK qualified nominee. That would also show yet again that any radical stating that conservatives hate minorities is a liar. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! You -did- read what Tuna wrote in his first post on this thread -- right? Why did HE even mention it to begin with?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Casurf1978 0 #11 November 6, 2004 QuoteGonzalez would be phenominal for the hispanic people but I hear rumors that he is hoping for a Supreme Court seat. We'll see. Yeah thats what I heard on the radio the other day too. A few Law profs were on and talking about him. Just curious as to who will fill Rheinquist though. Is that a position appointed by the Prez or do the Justices chose one? I know the Prez appoints Justices but can he say I want O'Connor to be the head. peacefuljeffrey 0 #13 November 6, 2004 QuoteWell I have it narrowed down to 3 - Larry Thompson - Rudy Giuliani - Alberto Gonzalez The only name there I recognize is Giuliani. I do NOT want him to be attorney general. Why? He's as anti-gun as any NY mayor has ever been. We do NOT need him retracting Ashcroft's letter to the U.S. attorneys that the administration's position is that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right! -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... StevePhelps 0 #14 November 6, 2004 Many people thought ex-Oklahoma Governor, Frank Keating,l was going to be the AG in 2000. Maybe this time??
ChasingBlueSky 0 #15 November 7, 2004 Rudy was on tv and was asked if he would take a cabinet position. He said "no" quite a few times. He said he is making plenty of money in his real estate plus it was time for him to spend time with his family. When asked about 2008 he said - ask me then. So, do you think I should believe Tuna's "guranteed" claim that most likely came from Drudge's page anyhow? Me? I'll take Rudy's word for it._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
