Lincoln ...

Recommended Posts

... may have decided instead to let things fall where they want
to fall and trhat a house divided is .. well, just two houses
standing next to each other.

A blue one with the north east, great lakes and west coast, and
a red one, with the south and the midwest. A secular, industrial
urban, and technology driven ones, and an agricultural,
religious, rural and morality driven one.

Wonder which one, if any, of those two Americas would have
risen to a super power over the decades.

Cheers, T

Lincoln is the father of the massive federalization of the gov't. The South was ready to give up slavery if we let them seccede. I wish we would have.

I could care less whether we are a super power or not. I want to live a happy prosperous life free of gov't intrusion. Being a super power is not a requirement for that.

By the way, I take offense to the "morality" driven claim being attributed to the slave owning states. That wasn't very moral. I'd call it more "misguided belief of superior morality"

the meaning was for what the south would have been today and
I certainly don't equate "morality driven" with "moral".

Considering that the entire GDP of the thirteen southern states was 1/7th of New York state alone (Burns, 1988), we can pretty much figure out who would have become the superpower. Yep, them damn yankees.
Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... It really pisses him off.
