Disaffected Americans look north to 'better government'

Recommended Posts

Ummm, are you insane? I'm not going anywhere, I just posted an article that I though might be of interest to some people. Where did I tall anyone that they did anything for nothing?

I am thankful for the freedom I have, but I don't direct those thanks at Bush, or anyone with your attitude. If you were in the military because you wanted thanks, then you did it for selfish reasons. Sorry I'm not pandering to you. I'm very pro-American, I love my country. I don't like what's being done to it.

Tell you what, instead of hateful, angry, violent, and threatening posts, try an overdose of valium.

This is weak. Better to stay and fight the radicals than run with your tail between your legs.

Stand up for what you believe in. So the country is swinging far to the right, get out on the street and demand representation from your government.

We're not ALL right wing nutjobs, really. Just most of us. [:/]

Too late, we have been fighting the radicals and we won this time!!

If there are 53,000,000 "radicals" then maybe your definitions of radical and middle need a little adjustment.

Funny thing about the 'middle', these days what you call the middle is what I call the left, what I call the middle is what you call the right. We would do well to take a step back, all of us, and really think about what is important to us. I'd be happy if what I call the middle became the right and if what you call the middle became the left, the middle would then truely be the middle.

You gotta be kidding me? Joining the Military and being willing to put your life on the line to protect people like you is one of the most unselfish acts I can imagine.

I agree. But from the tone of his post, it doesn't sound like he would willingly do anything for "people like me" other than use me for target practice. Sounds like he did it expecting something in return, not for altruistic reasons.

Canuck in USA has stated the obvious. Educate yourself a little first. 3-4x the price??? A statement of pure ignorance.
Keep believing the myths if that what it takes to keep you from moving here!!
Do a search sometime and find out how many Americans are now traveling abroad to places like India to have thier major surgeries done because the US system has failed them.
Some of you guys sure like to criticize the world, try looking in a mirror sometime, you have plenty to work on within your own borders, put your efforts there.
Me, I'll just keep living in my debt free province with one of the strongest regional economies in all of North America. Low, low unemployment and a budget surplus projected to be around 6 billion this year. Not to mention the fact I can go daylight big walls and land in front of the rangers or police and have them just say "COOL" Bwahahahahahha
And don't worry, we will still lend you our snipers to do the high altitude work when your boys arent up to it;)

Low unemployment????
http://www14.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/ei-ae/ratesc.htm
Alberta:
Calgary 5.1%
Edmonton 5.1%
N. Alberta 9.9%
S. Alberta 5.7%

No for let's say New Jersey:
http://www.bls.gov/lau/home.htm

State unemployment rate - 4.8%

I think I would rather live here thanks!!!! Where I can worry about my self, keep most of my income, and I don't have to pay for a boatload of social programs. ;)

You're entitled to your opinion of wanting to stay in Joisey or New York. But once again you are showing ignorance towards what's going on in the province of Alberta (the richest province in Canada with a very right wing oriented provincial government). Instead of assuming this or that, why don't you educate yourself as to what's really going on before you make a fool of yourself here on DZ.COM.

Note: If this post is deemed as a PA, so be it. Storm1977 obviously doesn't know what he is talking about concerning what's happening north of the border. :P

Actually I live in NY and wouldn't really move to NJ.... Have you ever been there??? (IT smells bad).

I am not making assumptions here about Alberta. However, sabre was implying unemployment is out of control here and it is soooo much better in his region. I happen to believe it isn't. And, looking at the numbers I just posted, NJ has a better unemployment rate than all of or any of Alberta.

That's all I am getting at.

Ok, I've got to bite here. In another thread, you called me "disgusting" because I thought it funny that a rich guy unloads millions on a losing political cause. So then, what might one label you for suggesting someone kill himself with prescription drugs?

You have to cut PK and the Other Liberal some slack.... They are having a bad week.

They Just realized their party is in shambles with no organization, and MORE than half of this country is for GWB.
He's having a hard time with all of this...

Fair enough. It sounds like Sabre is also making assumptions. Just so that you know, Canada is a big country with many different ethnic and cultural regions. Many of these regions have suffered economically and sometimes their choice in local government can be blamed and in some cases, it's just a case of adapting to an ever changing world. But Alberta with it's Oil Patch is a very prosperous region of the country.

In '93 I purchased a modest 4 bedroom house in a nice suburban Calgary neighborhood for $145000 CDN. And today my house (which I still own but don't live in) is likely worth somewhere around $275000-$300000 CDN. The Calgary economy has been booming for years thanks to the costs of Oil & Gas and GWB's war.

Hey, we lasted through eight years of CLinton.

This just goes to show you, liberals really do have weaker constitutions.

I've always been a believer in "love it or leave it" (or work to change it).

Anyone who'd leave because of a president, well, I'm not going to miss them.

And as you know the same is true of the US.

I didn't know I was having a party. Or did you mean the Democrats? Because I voted for more republicans and libertarians than democrats.

That is disturbing to me, but I'm not having a hard time with it. In fact I'm glad that our system works. I have a hard time with someone saying that I should be killed for posting an article that I don't even agree with but thought was an interesting read.

From the tone of the threads today, there seems to be a lot more bashing of Kerry and gloating from the right than anything else. Seems you guys want to continue the divisiveness, not surprised.

Well, you are wrong. I made no suggestions whatsoever about your unemployment rate. That was you reading way beyond what was written. You have only now said you were in NY so how could I have commented on that?!
I was strictly talkking about my region in Canada in response to how "things in Canada are soo bad," with NO assumptions about your situation or mine.
Alberta's unemployment rate is the lowest in Canada, we have alot of wealth and a powerhouse economy, that is allI am saying and it was a sarcastic remark to all of the slams about Canada. As for keeping money, I keep plenty. My quality of life is quite high and I surely don't need anymore than I already make.
Northern ALberta?? Do you even have a sniff as to what is in northern Alberta?
Rates for Canada=
-Newfoundland 15.0 (16.6)
-Prince Edward Island 11.2 (12.0)
-Nova Scotia 8.4 (8.8)
-New Brunswick 10.0 (10.0)
-Quebec 8.2 (8.2)
-Ontario 6.8 (7.0)
-Manitoba 5.6 (5.7)
-Saskatchewan 5.2 (5.2)

-British Columbia 7.3 (7.5) http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2004/08/06/571444-cp.html

I think what we can agree on is that it depends on where your from!?!?!? You may look north and think we are all socialist, taxpaying peace mongers with no freedoms. Some here look south and see a violent nation of closed minded religous-right bible thumpers whose "freedom" is carefully watched by its government.
You like/love your country and what it stands for I think?!!? We feel the same about our country and the different way we view and act on things. If we collectively didn't feel that loyalty to our respective homelands we wouldn't be very good citizens. And no I don't think leaving is the answer or I would have done so years ago to escape the Liberal bastards that run this place.

Now here are some useless numbers right back at you:P Please notice I included your state and its rate which is higher than ours (Alberta):)
U.S. Average (as of September) 5.4%
Arkansas 5.5%
New York 5.5%
Texas 5.5%
Missouri 5.6%
Washington 5.6%
Alabama 5.7%
California 5.9%
Illinois 6.0%
Mississippi 6.0%
Ohio 6.0%
Michigan 6.8%
South Carolina 6.9%
Oregon 7.3%
Alaska 7.6%
District of Columbia 7.9%

PS- I haven't had this much fun since the pigs ate my brother! LOL

Hey Joe,
Instead of heading north, how about reporting to one of the many military bases inside the US.
(you know the place that houses the people who defend, fight and die for the freedom you take for granted)
When you report just tell them what kink of bleeding heart liberal you are and how you are not satisfied with their country or their commander in chief. I am sure they will find you a nice comfortably place to reside for a short transition period prior to operations Being conducted.
Your choice of residence includes the following
LOT # 1. 50-100 acres of open land, with all the fresh air you can breath. A view of the stars that people can only dream of, with wildlife all around. No taxes to be paid and no noisy neighbors! The only down fall for you and your deserter friends. The noise is a tad loud once the Miniguns begins prepping the objective with preassault fires. Oh how exquisite it is to see the flames dance while the tracers light up the night from the side C-130 Specter gunship, as it ever so silently glides through the midnight air in a left hand pattern as if only to taunt the prey below. Once the terror has completely sunk in and just as you were getting ready to reclaim your loyalty to our great nation, a loud and thunderous boom would ring through the countryside as the ever so greatful pilots conducting the live fire training mission would introduce you to another great American wonderfully named 105 mm howietzer.
(You can run, but you will only die tired!)
LOT # 2 A fully furnished 6 bedroom, 3 bathroon, condominium. remotely secluded for the privacy lover in you. No down payment needed, free utilities, free air conditioning, thanks in large to no roof. And all the company you could ever want with cardboard silhouettes of all your favorite friends. Nevermind the walls being tires and the thousands of spent shell casings that make up your custom floor. You can entertain your cardboard friends until all hours of the night as you see fit with no interruption from law enforcement individuals....well that is until the Door is suddenly blown from the hinges from the charges of C-4 and det cord and the party is so rudely interrupted by the ear bleeding concussion of a flash bang. Once you think...oh nevermind, you won't have time to think. Just as you realize you are not the life of the party anymore, you have a stream of 12 dashing individuals, whom you don't remember inviting to your little get together, pour through what used to be a doorway. Blatantly ignoring the "please check your coats at the door sign" the 12 individuals graciously introduce themselves to your communist liberal friends by delivering a 9mm to the head and one to the chest with what is called the double tap polka! Realizing you don't dance your new friends graciously leave you to your lifeless party with a quickness. As they disappear into the night you are simply left with the fresh smell of gun powder, the Blinding glare from the flash and the ringing in your ears. the memory of sweet sounds of suppressed weapons. and just as your ears begin to return to normal. You can faintly hear the sound of a laser guided Tomahawk as it gently enters your residence relieving you from all burdons of ever having to clean up after the party.

If you are not going to be thankful for the freedom you enjoy, then you are blatantly telling the individuals that die for your freedom that they are doing it for nothing.
If you are not going to be Pro American then,
Be a training aid! We always need training aids!

Sorry that was my outside voice!

Hey Einstein,
If you took the time to read my post, you would have read the first line, which stated the individuals name that wants to go to Canada. I never said anything about you or even attempted to bash you for posting the article, as a matter of fact, I appreciate people like you posting this information. It gives me something to vent about. Everyone that knows me knows I don't vent that often, so venting about idiots such as Joe is a good stress reliever for me. (It keeps the kittens safe) Be careful and don't be so defensive next time...You could accidentally start an argument:o! Peace to you and Yes I am in the military and I did volunteer to defend "OUR" freedom for the past 14 years.
Peace.
