lawrocket 3 #1 November 3, 2004 Here are my favorite Election factoids. 1) Vote results from Washington, D.C. John Kerry - Dem - 183,876 - 90 percent George W. Bush - Rep - 19,007 - 9 percent Another result from Washington, D.C. - Marion Barry was elected to City Council representing Ward 8 with 95 percent of the vote. And people think California is screwed up... My wife is hotter than your wife.

Shotgun 1 #3 November 3, 2004 South Carolina: AMENDMENT-1 MINI BOTTLES - Election Results>> YES 801,117 59% NO 555,060 41% I like that S.C. is tackling the important issues such as whether to pour liquor from big bottles or little bottles. (And why did they have a law requiring bars to pour from minibottles in the first place???)
pajarito 0 #4 November 3, 2004 QuoteGot this in an email, supposedly from Kerry's pollster, polling of early voters in states where that occured. Florida - 30 percent of state -- 53-47 for Kerry Iowa 57 to 41 percent for Kerry (compared to about +6 margin in early vote in 2000) Oregon - early vote (which is the whole electorate) 53 to 47 percent for Kerry New Mexico 51-48 for Kerry Nevada 48 to 50 with Bush ahead I only hope it's true. - PhillyKev
quade 4 #5 November 3, 2004 The mini-bottle issue is actually a fairly serious one. Because they can ONLY use mini-bottles their drinks have a tendancy to be either larger or stronger or both than those in other states which is a contributing factor to drunk driving issues. Ok, this is silly, but when I just googled it, a fairly good piece came up by Samantha Bee of The Daily Show. http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/thedailyshowwithjonstewart/videos_corr.jhtml?p=bee Click on the one marked "1/5th Amendment"quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
kinney29 0 #6 November 3, 2004 The mini bottle issue has been around for awhile in S.C. I lived there for 5 years. Most of which where drinking years. The point of mini bottles was to ensure fair liquor practices. i.e. no watering down the liquor or short pouring. However on military bases they used free-pour. Shotgun 1 #7 November 3, 2004 Quotea fairly good piece came up by Samantha Bee of The Daily Show. That was funny. I love The Daily Show. I just thought it was bizarre they had that law in the first place... wonder how it came about? Probably a good law to get rid of, but I doubt it will do much to change the drunk driving rates. Most bars that supposedly use 1 oz of liquor actually "spill" quite a bit more into the glass anyway. Edited to say: Ah, kinney29 sort of answered my question of how it came about (in the post right above mine).

AndyMan 7 #9 November 3, 2004 Not quite as good, but still funny: Barak Obama (dem): 70. Alan Keys (rep): 27 The race was fun not because of who Obama is, but because of Alan Keyes. What a twit. May he never run for office again... _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

EricTheRed 0 #11 November 3, 2004 I don't know about SC but I do know some states have a container tax. If SC does, this would make the tax revenues greater on the mini-bottles as opposed to the 750 ml bottles.illegible usually
EricTheRed 0 #12 November 3, 2004 Now that I've killed another thread I went ahead and looked this up: http://www.thetandd.com/articles/2004/10/31/news/doc41846dd5302d7488599303.txt QuoteMinibottle supporters argue that switching to free-pour drinks will leave taxpayers stuck with the tab because it will result in lower tax revenue. Currently, the state receives tax money on every little bottle that's opened.illegible usually
