AggieDave 6 #1 November 3, 2004 Now both political parties have an interesting road ahead of themselves. The democrats, well, I'm foreseeing a political bloodbath of sorts within the party. I'm not real sure who is going to come out on top after the aftermath of the '04 election is over. The GOP has to find a strong canidate that appeals to the masses, obviously, since this is W's last term. There are some rumors that McCain might try again, and the obvious person jocking for position is Hillery Clinton. However, there is an up and coming rising star for the Democrats, Obama. He's young and within his state. His age could very well turn the tide in favor of the demo's due to the under 30 vote. All in all, this is when politics get exciting. Its been 12 years since a president was elected with this large of a margin, and especially since the "experts" had predicted a democrat win. So this is a make or break time for the democrats, the next 2 years are the most crutial for the political parties and where the nation will be taken 4 years from now and where it will be in 12 years.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jumper03 0 #3 November 3, 2004 QuoteWell, of course you realize that this loss paves the way for Saint Hillary in 2008. My personal opinion is that if the democrats want to retake the white house in 2008, Hillary is NOT the best choice. She's too much of a lightening rod. They need someone who'll appeal to the middle - something I think Hillary does not do. JumpScars remind us that the past is real
PhillyKev 0 #4 November 3, 2004 Depends. If Bush can change his ways and actually work toward inclusion of the 48% who voted against him, my guess would be a centrist, either dem or rep. If things continue in their current path then I predict an even more radical liberal or conservative then our choices this time around.

mr2mk1g 10 #7 November 3, 2004 Georgy again. By virtue of the emergency powers the Senate enacted after the war on terror in North Korea escalates and Russia and China become involved. The newly installed Prime Ministers of Iraq and Iran are the only world leaders to support the move, which is widely condemned… although the matter is a welcome area of common ground between all 4 of the warring factions of the Former Afghanistan. lawrocket 3 #10 November 3, 2004 I think it's almost impossible to tell who will be the candidates. While Hillary is a logical choice for the Dems, and she could probably win the Dem primaries, it must be recognized that there is another election in 2006 for the House that can swing things the other way. I'll put it this way - Clinton would NOT have been re-elected in 1996 had the Republicans not taken control of Congress in the 1994 election. The entire Democratic party, including Clinton, were extremely unpopular. When there was that division, it worked to Clinton's benefit, since the people collectively vented in 1994, and Clinton learned a powerful lesson (credit him for paying heed). I do not believe Condaleeza Rice could ever be a President, since Democrats HATE her (yes, the party, and especially the black leadership, HATE her). I think Obama may be a good choice for a person to start making noise in 2008. Still, other choices may prove themselves in the coming years. For example, you may have a Giulliani. Mitt Romney, a Republican governor of Massachusetts, may also have a shot. IF you think about it, Carter, Clinton and Bush, Jr. all have governor experience. My wife is hotter than your wife. PhillyKev 0 #13 November 3, 2004 I don't know why you guys keep talking about Hillary. As far as I can tell, she's not all that loved. On the gubernatorial slant, I'd like to see Fast Eddie Rendel run on the dem ticket.

PhreeZone 20 #15 November 3, 2004 The democrats will pick a southern democrat. Thats about the only way that they will be able to pick someone that has a real fighting chance. Someone like a northern VP nod will probaly be given too. Kennedy 0 #16 November 3, 2004 Obama is a terrible choice just because so many people won't vote for anything different next election. Hillary is even worse because she is a woman and another of the five or six most liberal faces in the Senate. For Demos, they need a powerful politicians with an unknown name. They need to make him a household name in the next four years. The best thing Demos could do for themselves is change the primary process. They need to make it so that a few states don't screw the rest of the states. (Kerry was hardly their best choice) Same thing is true for the Repubs, since they need a new face for 2008.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
434 2 #17 November 3, 2004 After 4 more years with a Texas cowboy, I would guess Hillary will enter the trone She seems to be a pretty smart lady, and she have runned the white house for 8 years before :-) She is the one, who will be able to build the relations, to other countries USA lost during 8 years with Bush. God save you all!
wmw999 2,600 #18 November 3, 2004 No matter who comes up, they'll be thoroughly trashed, no matter how good they are, only their bad points will come out. The only way through is to either be undistinguished enough that there are no bad points (yuk), or to simply refuse to address them (like Reagan did so well). Either way, it'll be vicious for everyone. Each side will hear the viciousness of the other side, and think that the excesses on their own side is simple venting. Kennedy 0 #21 November 3, 2004 Maybe it's harder to see in another country, but here in the states, Hillary is as much an extremist as Bush is, maybe more. Remember, a lot of the world preferred Kerry in polls just before the election. Doesn't matter. The choice is made here in the states, and Hillary would bring unimaginable opposition to any nationwide election.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
Kennedy 0 #22 November 3, 2004 Hillary Clinton is a female version of Kerry. The democrats need to find a replacement for Bill Clinton, and his wife isn't it. They need somebody who will take some of the red states, particularly in the south. They need a person will real appeal, who the voters can connect with (even if it's one sided). The probably have to look to governors from the south or the midwest. Their senators either don't have the party line, or they don't have the "like-ability" factor. =========================================== I think Condoleeza Rice would be a great choice for VP, but only if she has an IMMENSELY popular presidential candidate. As for Republican head honcho candidates, I don't know. I'm sure a few senators have their eyes on the prize, but I think it'll be a cabinet member/appointee, or it'll be a republican governor who gets the nod in 2008.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
lawrocket 3 #23 November 3, 2004 I think that the only problem with Giulianni is his history of scandal can catch up to him. Recall that this is the guy who announced his separation from his wife on television before telling his wife of his intentions. Also, much of this was due to his affair, and Mrs. Giuliani did not exactly stand by her man when this occurred. Expect the Dems to make some hay with this. My wife is hotter than your wife. 434 2 #24 November 3, 2004 I know the choice is done in USA, and respect that, but you know USA have to deal with lost relations for years after Bush is finished! Give some more shit around, and one by one will turn the back to you, and search for safer options! More terrorists will be created the longer it takes to turn middle east in to a safe free place! For every day with war in Irak, lost civillian lifes, new dangerous terrorists will creates. Maybe USA will loose their trade connections to? China with Asia is growing, europe is still improving, and when all comes to all, it is all about power, oil, marked who it is smart to cooperate with. Peace!
