2004 Presidential Election Thread

Just because the state is Red doesn't mean that the entire state is for Bush.

Just look at Florida - almost exactly in half. You could also ask then, why don't the Republicans run away with it if they cover so many states?

Bush is going to just barely win. Don't gloat.

There is that term "political correctness" something that gets tossed out there when someone is showing they are afraid of their own opinion on something. A red flag for a closed mind.

I'm not at all affraid of my opinion, I'm posting it. Deal with the arguments instead of name calling. Try reading George Orwell's "1984" with your own mind open if you're interested in more than merely name calling around the issues of PC. What you have done in trying to redefine marriage and calling people who don't agree with you unpatriotic is *profoundly* Orwellian as you'll see if you read that book. Fortunately we have the ballot box instead of a boot stomping on a face. You don't like the result this time around but you could try to graduate to persuasion instead of name calling and in the long term you may change minds and win the debate.

Thats cute. I own the book and read it every few years. One of my favories. Own it on VHS as well.
Funny thing - I see forcing religious and pious rhetoric down the throat of the populace as a boot in the face. Matter of perspective huh?

Lets leave this out of the thread as requested.

Don't whine. Your guy was rejected and we also gained more Senate seats. Time to re-think why the Dems have been on a losing streak for over 20 years. Or they can keep calling people stupid and keep doing the same thing.

It's not a whine. It was a close race and because there is a lot of red on the map someone wants to claim a decisive victory? I prefer not to rely on the pretty colors and instead look at the emperical data. The numbers show a lot closer race than that red/blue map does.

Mark my words. This country will be worse off in four years than we are right now. We will continue downhill.

Why do they lose flyover country like that?

Because land doesn't vote. People do.

It's a LOT less expensive to campaign in Delaware for 3 than Wyoming for the same 3.

Add on top of that the fact that the center of the country tends to have values that align a bit better with GWB and it's a huge uphill battle.

Take a gander at the popular vote in Utah. Something on the order of 71% to 27%. (Hey Tuna -- THERE'S the landslide for GWB you where looking for.) All of GWBs "moral" issues play pretty well there so a Democratic candidate has a LONG way to go, but it's only 5 EC votes so why bother?

Pepperjack please.;)

Seriously. Bush supporters will have no excuse in the next few years as the economy doesn't recover, as the war doesn't get better, as the environment gets worse, as education suffers, as more Americans are killed in the war, as terrorism grows, etc. All the bad that happens in the next four years will be because of the last three years worth of decisions. The past is prologue.
